J&K Gujjars launch first e- Gojri Channel on Youtube

Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR: First ever electronic Gojri Channel was launched here today on world's most viewed video sharing portals 'You Tube' and OAL videos UK simultaneously by Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation, a national organization working on Gujjars. The channel will now broadcast most popular Gojri songs, highly researched short films on socio-cultural aspects of Gujjars, interviews of different Gujjar dignitaries and Gojri news and current affairs programmes on Internet . Giving details, Dr. Javaid Rahi, national secretary of Tribal Foundation said 'initially we have successfully uploaded more than 50 videos of different categories in Gojri showcasing different aspects of Tribal and nomadic life of Gujjars' . He added that the main objective of launching of the e-channel in Gojri on globally recognized 'You Tube' and AOL web networks is to share and broadcast the prestigious heritage of Gujjars still surviving in J&K against all odds . Another objective is, he said, to highlight online the centuries old tribal traditions of Gujjars . He said that those browsing 'Gojri' or 'Gujjars' on 'You Tube' and AOL would get dozens of melodious songs, baits siharfis in Gojri with other detailed information about the Gujjar Tribe , their History, Culture, Social Structure, Economy and Language-Gojri uploaded by Tribal Foundation . He said these e-channels broadcast will also provide a database knowledge about Nomadic Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir who are passing through a sensitive point of time, said Dr.Rahi . The main attraction of this e-channel was more than 50 folk and melodious -songs of Gojri sung by the prominent artists include Kailash Mehra, Shameema Dev, Surinder Kour, Assa Singh Mastana, Begum Jan, Bashir Mastana, Noor Jan, Kartar Chand, Mohammad Hussain Merasi, Sain Taas and other Gojri artists with a glimpses of traditional performing arts popular in this nomadic tribe, said Dr.Rahi and added that those who browse will also listen the poetry of Mian Nizam -ud- Din, Israel Asar, Sain Qadar Baksh, Khuda Baksh Zar, Noor Mohammad Noor, Shabaz Rajourvi, Iqbal Azeem , Naseem Poonchi, Mansha Khaki and other popular poets on net. Dr. Javaid Rahi further said some rare videos collected from Poonch Rajouri and other parts of the State are showcasing folk-arts and crafts popular in the Himalayan Nomadic groups which are facing a great threat of extinction were also uploaded for reference and record. Dr. Rahi told that all the videos launched by our organization now available free of cast download on net.
