Indian system allows people to live with dignity: Dalai Lama

Excelsior Correspondent LEH: Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama today said that people should uphold the values of moral character, truthful discipline, dedication instead of aggressive nature. While speaking at a function organised by Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council in his honour here today, Dalai Lama complimented the members of the Hill Council for the development of the area. He said with the virtue of an impressive democratic system in India, the people of this hilly belt are living with freedom and dignity. The people must uphold these values in true sense and spirit. Earlier, Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Chhering Dorje, in his welcome address said that Hill Council Leh has made dedicated efforts to take Ladakh on the path of development. The Council is committed for the balanced development in all the sectors and conservation and environment protection works, he added. DC Leh A K Sahu while presenting vote of thanks said that Dalai Lama's visit and inspiration will always help the Council in pushing Ladakh region towards more better development vigorously. Others present on the occasion included Executive Councillors, Member National Commission for ST Tsering Samphel, GOC Maj Gen N K Yadav, Ex-MP P Namgyal and Thupstan Chhewang, Ex-CEC LAHDC Rigzin Spalbar and prominent citizens.
