15 October 2009

Srinagar: The Opposition PDP in Jammu and Kashmir today welcomed Union Home Minister P Chidambaram's statement that the Centre is ready to hold talks with every section of political opinion in the state. 'The commitment of the union government to work for a peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue adds a new and positive dimension to Kashmir discourse,' PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said here. 'The development has infused a breath of fresh air into a scenario that has marred by negative rhetoric for a long while,' she said, referring to the Union minister's statement yesterday at the All India Editors Conference on Social and Infrastructure issues here. Chidambaram had said that political parties like National Conference, PDP and Congress have a point of view and the effort would be to hold talks with all shades of political opinion, including some political groups advocating separatism.
