Plot To Target Police Headquarters, Doda Foiled

Jammu: Close on the heels of busting a terror module with the arrest of six militants and Over Ground Workers (OGWs), police and CRPF today arrested five more cadres of two militant outfits including brother of Hizbul Mujahideenís surrendered militant Bashir Lohar and a private ration dealer during raids carried out at Manwas, Kud Dhar and Doda town. The ration dealer was arrested from outside the District Police Headquarters, Doda when he was carrying out recee of the vital installation. The arrested militant cadres belonged to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen outfits, SSP Doda Parbhat Singh said. Mr Singh said Bashir Ahmed son of Mukta, a resident of Kutch Dhar in Doda was arrested from outside the District Police Headquarters, housing among others the SSP office, when he was carrying out recee of the Headquarters for Hizbul Mujahideen. Bashir is working as a private ration dealer in Kutch Dhar. The SSP Doda office, according to sources, is on hit list of the LeT as well as Hizbul Mujahideen outfits as a large number of their cadres including the commanders have been eliminated by police and their over ground workers arrested across Doda district. Sources said a HM plot to target Police Headquarters in Doda has been foiled with the arrest of Bashir Ahmed. Bashir was immediately whisked away to an unknown location for sustained questioning after his arrest. Sources said Bashir was carrying out recee of the Police Headquarters before an attack on the vital police installation by the HM militants. Another Lashkar worker Hanief son of Namdu Malik R-o Khangana, a close associate of Mohammad Hussain, a LeT militant who was gunned down by police at Koti the other day, was arrested by police and CRPF today from Koti area where he was searching for a hide-out for the LeT militants. Hanief was working for the LeT outfit especially slain ultra Mohammad Hussain for the past quite some time. He has been shifted to Doda for interrogation. Three Hizbul Mujahideen workers were apprehended by Doda police and CRPF from Manwas and Kud Dhar. The HM workers pelted stones on police when their hide-outs were raided to apprehend them. However, police parties led by Incharge Operations Sub Inspector Shiv Kumar alias Sonu managed to apprehend them. They have been identified as Nayamatullah son of Nazir Ahmed Khanji, Shabir Ahmed son of Ghulam Mohammed Lohar, who happened to be brother of surrendered HM militant Bashir Lohar, both residents of Kud Dhar and Ghulam Rasool son of Abdul Pashi Majeed R-o Manwas. All of them are being subjected to sustained questioning to ascertain hide-outs and location of the LeT and HM militants in upper reaches of Doda district, sources said.
