Srinagar: A day after the Army killed a 21-year-old student at Handwara, an angry Omar Abdullah on Sunday asked the Army to strictly adhere to zero tolerance for human rights violations and not to repeat such incidents. “(I) had a detailed discussion with the (General Officer Commanding) GoC 15th Corps to ensure that deaths like Manzoor's are never repeated,” the Chief Minister tweeted soon after the meeting. “I find the term collateral damage such an insensitive and de-humanised term. How can death of youth be collateral damage?” On Saturday, the CM had slammed the Army for not taking his suggestions into account made at the Unified Command. “I am even more upset with the knowledge that a suggestion of mine made in the Unified Command could have avoided this incident,” he had said. Even as the CM didn’t make any mention of the suggestions made by him at the Unified Command, sources said he had asked the security forces to avoid night cordons and zero in on the target only after specific information. Sunday’s meeting was convened after the killing of 21-year-old Manzoor Ahmad Magray in Chogul village of Handwara.
