Geelani For System In J&K Based On Quran27 August 2011
Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani Saturday said the modern world’s experiments with different systems of life had failed miserably and humanity’s peaceful existence lay only in the implementation of Quranic values and teachings. Felicitating people on the occasion of Shab-i-Qadr, Geelani said the message of Quran needed to be understood and implemented in letter and spirit because “Quran is not an ordinary book but a system of life which guides mankind in every sphere of life.” “Having toyed with different systems, the world today stands on the brink of disaster, with injustice, oppression, social and economic inequality growing by the day. It’s only the teachings of Quran which can bring peace and prosperity to the world,” Geelani said. Geelani said although India’s “occupation” of Kashmir was “legally and morally unjustified, there is another justification to our struggle against it.” “As long as India occupies Jammu and Kashmir, there is no chance of implementing the Quranic system of life here. And since India is a secular country, where religion has been segregated from the state affairs, our struggle for freedom assumes the status of ibadat (worship),” he said. “Thus, our struggle becomes a part of our religion and those who claim to be working for the cause of religion but keep aloof from the freedom struggle are either unaware of Quranic teachings or scared of oppressors that they hesitate to speak out the truth,” he said.
