BJP Asks Govt To Review China Policy6 October 2011

New Delhi: Expressing concern over reports of China posting its troops in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK), opposition BJP on Thursday asked the government to review its policy on China. The party was reacting to Army chief General V K Singh's contention on Chinese troops in PoK and Beijing's growing proximity to Pakistan. 'General V K Singh's statement that Chinese army is present in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is an alarming situation,' BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said. Singh had on Wednesday stated that around 4,000 Chinese troops were present in PoK. He said the situation had become more serious after the recent strains between the US and Pakistan over the Haqqani issue. 'After the US has cornered Pakistan on this issue, the latter has been growing closer to China. But still our government continues to play a defensive role as always,' Hussain said. 'The Manmohan Singh government should wake up and discuss this issue with China. This is a very serious issue. The government is failing on both the internal and external security fronts. It should review its policy towards China,' he added.
