Interlocutors' Report ‘wastage Of Time’: PDP, Hurriyat (M)12 October 2011
Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party and Hurriyat Conference (M) Wednesday termed the final report submitted by the Kashmir interlocutors to Home Minister P Chidambaram as “wastage” of time. PDP President Mehbooba Mufti while commenting on the report said it seems whole exercise has been wasted. “Recommendations like devolution of powers to panchyats is nothing special. Reportedly there is neither internal dimension nor external dimension in the report,” she said. “The recommendations made by the Prime Minister’s Working Groups a few years ago were better than the latest recommendations. There is no mention of political solution of the J&K in this report,” she said. Ruling National Conference chief spokesman Dr Mustafa Kamaal said he had no information about the report. “But if restoration of autonomy which has been passed by the state legislature also in 2000 has been ignored in the report then it is unfortunate,” he said. Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that the decision of Hurriyat to stay away from interlocutors proved right. “CBMs are no solution to Kashmir. They wasted one year without achieving anything. Their version is what government of India says,” he said. Senor separatist leader Shabir Ahmad Shah said that Kashmiris haven’t given sacrifices for CBMs. “We had already rejected the interlocutors,” he remarked. CPI (M) state secretary and MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami said that report should be shared with political parties both at national and local level. “Widest possible debate will be useful to reach broader agreements,” he said.
