Jamiat Owns Attack On Sagar12 December 2011
Srinagar: The militant outfit Jamiatul Mujahideen Monday claimed responsibility for the attack on Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister Ali Mohammad Sagar saying it was in retaliation to NC president Farooq Abdullah's advocacy for reopening liquor shops in the Valley. “The Al Jabbar squad of the outfit carried out the attack on Sagar last night,” Jamiat spokesman Jamil Ahmad said in a faxed statement to PTI. He said the attack was carried out as a reaction to the statement of Farooq Abdullah for reopening of cinema halls and liquor shops. Jamiat warned of more attacks in future on NC and other 'pro-India' parties in Kashmir. It is pertinent to mention here that a policeman was killed and three others including a civilian injured when militants made an abortive bid on the life of Sagar in Nawab Bazaar area in old city, where he had gone to attend a family function, last evening. Meanwhile, another lesser known militant outfit Islamic Movement of Kashmir has also claimed responsibility of the attack. An unidentified man called a local news gathering agency KNS this afternoon and introduced himself as a member of Islamic Movement of Kashmir. He claimed that it was his organization that carried out attack on Sagar.
