'Geelani Passport Humanitarian Issue'

Srinagar: The J&K government Monday said that issuing passport to Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani was a 'humanitarian issue'. Talking to reporters at Civil Secretariat here, Education Minister Naeem Akther said, 'Government will deal with the issue of granting passport to Geelani at the humanitarian level. This is a humanitarian issue,' Akther said. Pertinently, Geelani along with his wife and son Friday submitted an online application form for the issuance of the passport in their favour. Hurriyat (G) chairman and his wife had mentioned that one of their daughters, Farhat Jabeen Geelani, who stays in Jeddah is not keeping well and that they wanted to visit the place to inquire about her health. Geelani while applying for the fresh passport had mentioned that he along with his wife wanted to leave for Jeddah as soon as possible.
