Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) activists on Friday held sit-in protests throughout the valley against the proposed settlement for Pandits, and ex-soldiers besides new industrial policy. The JKLF activists organized sit-ins and hoisted black flags as a mark of protest throughout the valley. A statement issued here said that following the joint program announced by JKLF, both factions of hurriyat, JKLF leaders and activists led by vice chairman advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt today staged a peaceful protest sit-in near Budshah Chowk Lal Chowk. 'Besides JKLF leaders and activists a large number of people including women from all walks of life also joined this protest sit-in,' the statement said. Butt condemned the continuous detention and house arrest of various leaders including Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and arresting JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and shifting him to central jail Srinagar. He said that such is the highhandedness of rulers and their police that JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik during his illegal confinement at police station Kothibagh had written a letter to chief justice of Srinagar high court seeking orders against his illegal confinement.
