Bodies Of Two Militants Recovered In Uri, Buried26 June 2016
Baramulla: The army has claimed to have recovered bodies of two unidentified militants from the forests of Lachipora area of Uri in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Sunday morning. Official sources said that the army's 17 JAK rifles saw suspicious movement in Lachipora forests along the line of control on Saturday afternoon. After being challenged, a group of two militants fired on the army, resulting in an encounter. In this encounter the army killed both the militants, officials said. On Sunday morning the army found the bodies of the two militants and took them to their base camp at Lachipora. Later they handed over the bodies to the police, who buried them. The army also claimed that they recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition from beside the militants' bodies, including two AK 47 rifles, grenades, a large quantity of medicines including pain killers, bandage and other medicines, a radio set, a compass, an electric circuit, food items, uniforms and maps. A senior army officer said that the duo seemed to be headed towards central kashmir for a major terror attack. The army's 21 RR and other forces on Sunday cordoned the Bhawan forest area in Rajwar Handwara, and launched a search operation for suspected militants hiding there.
