Stone-throwing In Sopore, Shopian; Curfew Imposed19 September 2016
Srinagar: Kashmir continued to remain tense for the 73rd consecutive day on Monday with reports of violence and rallies in north and south Kashmir. According to a spokesman of the Zonal Police Headquarters, stone-throwing incidents took place in Sopore and Shopian. 'Restriction under Section 144 remained in force in the Valley. Curfew was imposed under some police stations in Srinagar and the Vehil area of Shopian district,' said the police spokesman. More arrests He said 45 more miscreants were arrested in the past 24 hours, taking the number of those detained in the past three days to around 150. 'A group of miscreants set on fire a middle school building in Shopian. Two miscreants were injured,' said the spokesman. However, locals alleged that a huge posse of security forces raided a venue of pro-freedom rally in Shopian's Viel area. They also accused the security forces of damaging public property, firing pellets and bullets, inflicting injuries on scores of protesters.
