Pak Court Snubs Hafiz Saeed, Refuses To Prod Government To Talk Of Kashmir25 September 2016
Lahore: The Lahore High Court has dismissed a writ petition by Lashkar chief and 26-11 attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed seeking to direct the Pakistan government to speak of Kashmir at the UN Security Council and other international fora. Lahore High court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali dismissed the petition, observing that 'the matter raised by the petitioner is not justifiable before the court and falls within the domain of politics'. Hafiz Saeed's counsel AK Dogar said the verdict will be challenged in the intra-court. Pakistan has already attempted to target India at the United Nations General Assembly, drawing a sharp retort. Despite a $10 million bounty on his head, Hafiz Saeed has a free run in Pakistan. India has repeatedly questioned why he has not been brought to justice, alleging that it was further proof that Pakistan was sponsoring terror. Diplomatic tension between the two countries have spiraled since the September 18 attack at an army base in Kashmir's Uri, in which 18 soldiers have died. India has directly blamed Pakistan, which has dodged all questions on the attack.
