Exams Will Be Held As Per Schedule: CM Mehbooba

Srinagar: Day after asserting that she would take a 'holistic view' on the issue, J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said the upcoming J&K Board examinations shall be held as per schedule. 'The Government is exploring various options in consultation with the Education Department, the State Board of School Education (BOSE) and other stakeholders to ensure you have more options and your academic year is not lost,' the Chief Minister, according to an official spokesman, told the students from different schools of the city 'who called on her', here. The Government has scheduled the Class 10th and 12th examinations from mid-November, much to the annoyance of students who are hitting the streets against the decision. The students are seeking postponement of the examinations in view of the prevailing situation in Kashmir. The Chief Minister said the examinations shall be held as per the already-announced schedule. She, however, assured the students that the Government will 'arrange special coaching classes to help them prepare for various competitive examinations like CET, NEET, JEE etc.' She said even during the prevailing disturbances, several examinations including competitive tests were 'conducted successfully' and the students 'appeared in such exams overwhelmingly.' The Chief Minister also urged the parents to 'wholeheartedly support the endeavor of the government to safeguard the academic future of their wards.'
