Srinagar: A day after Kashmir Reader published a story, 'Salahudin lambasts Dubai conference that called for 'cessation of hostilities', the Hurriyat faction led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq denied that their representative was questioned for his participation in the conference. A spokesperson of the Hurriyat (M) termed it as 'baseless and absurd'. The spokesperson said that the 'presumption' of the report that Hurriyat (M) Convener Syed Fiaz Hussain Naqshbandi participated because of the pressure of NIA raids was 'mischievous' and 'motivated.' 'Such 'presumptions' are promoted by agencies who are always on a look-out to create wedge among the (pro-freedom) leadership and (to create) confusion among people,' he said. The spokesman asked for the name of the so-called 'Hurriyat leader' who was quoted in the story 'to be made public'. 'At this critical juncture, the people of Kashmir have to be very cautious of such ploys,' the spokesperson said. Kashmir Reader stands by its report. Hizb chief Syed Salahudin is on record saying that the Dubai Conference participants were 'working on payrolls'. The NIA raids on and arrests of pro-freedom leaders have put a certain pressure on the pro-freedom leadership, whether they admit it or not.
