Amid Clashes, Militants Escape Cordon In Kulgam

Srinagar: Militants believed to be two in number have reportedly escaped from a cordon laid by joint group of 62RR and SOG in Kulgam district. According to reports, militants fired some shots before escaping from the cordon. Earlier acting on a tip off about the presence of militants in Munchew village of Yaripora area of Kulgam district, joint group of army and SOG cordoned off the village. As the news spread, intense clashes erupted between youth and forces. According to reports, youth took to streets soon after forces launched search operation. Youth pelted stones on government forces who retaliated with tear smoke shells triggering clashes.
