Student Killed After Car-borne Gunmen Attack CRPF Patrol In Anantnag

Srinagar: A civilian was killed when car-borne gunmen attacked a Road Opening Party (ROP) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, police spokesman said. He said the gunmen attacked a ROP at Lazibal, Anantnag, on Thursday afternoon with automatic weapons. Security forces also retaliated. A civilian identified as Shafeeq Shabir Shah, a resident of Shopian, was injured who was admitted to hospital. The injured later succumbed, official sources said. He said entire area has been cordoned off and a massive operation has been launched to nab the militants. Spokesman in a tweet said 'militants fired upon ROP party at Anantnag . As soon as the body of the slain civilian reached his hometown, people burst into wails. Women, in particular, were seen wailing and beating chests. People from far off places reached Shopian's Main town to pay homage to the slain civilian.
