Srinagar: Lashkar-e-Taiba on Monday said that Ramadhan ceasefire was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir to minimize the resistance against alleged atrocities being committed by New Delhi. Shah strongly condemned what he termed as 'atrocities being committed' by the government forces in Shopian and 'burning of orchards' and 'intrusion into the houses of people.' LeT chief Mahmood Shah in a statement said, 'New Delhi's Ramadhan ceasefire is nothing but a farce. We knew long before that this is nothing but a drama and an effort to deceive the international community. Can anybody testify that the atrocities against innocent Kashmiris and the killing of youth after Ramadan ceasefire has stopped? Are our women and children safe?' He said, 'It's clear that Ramadan ceasefire was imposed to minimize the resistance against New Delhi's atrocities. It was imposed so that people like Major Gogi and others can play with the honor of Kashmiri women. ' The LeT chief said, 'Can Mehbooba Mufti count the numbers of Hurriyat leaders who have been released from captivity after ceasefire? Instead numbers have increased.' ' The ceasefire is nothing but a ploy to increase the distance between the public and the freedom fighters as government forces have failed to handle indigenous Kashmir struggle.' Mahmood Shah said, 'Those who are commending the ceasefire must open their eyes now. New Delhi had never been honest to find solution to Kashmir conflict. It has always sought to treacherous ways.'
