Four BSF Personnel Martyred In Ceasefire Violation By Pakistan In Chambliyal Sector12 June 2018
Srinagar: At least four Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were killed as Pakistan resorted to ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Chambliyal sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. A news agency ANI reported that three BSF soldiers have also been injured. More details are awaited. In the further update, one Assistant Commandant, one Sub-Inspector and two soldiers of Border Security Force (BSF) have lost their lives and injured BSF soldiers have been admitted to Government Medical College in Jammu. On June 3, two BSF personnel were killed after Pakistani troops attacked border areas in the Pragwal area of Akhnoor sector. The firing from across the border in violation of the ceasefire agreement had prompted a strong and effective retaliation by the BSF. On May 29, the DGMOs of India and Pakistan agreed to 'fully implement' the ceasefire pact of 2003 in 'letter and spirit' forthwith to stop border skirmishes in Jammu and Kashmir. The two military commanders reviewed the prevailing situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border in Jammu and Kashmir during a conversation over the special hotline. The hotline contact was initiated by the Pakistani DGMO. Following the conversation between Indian DGMO Lt Gen Anil Chauhan and Pakistan's Maj Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza, the two armies issued identical statements saying both sides agreed to implement the 15-year-old ceasefire understanding. Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a spurt in Pakistani shelling and firing along the IB and the Line of Control (LoC) this year. Over 700 incidents of fire and shelling were reported, which left 38 people including 18 security personnel dead and scores injured.
