Srinagar: Peoples Conference (PC) chairman and MLA Handwara, Sajad Gani Lone on Thursday said that the two years of the government of the erstwhile government was far better than the 18 years rule of National Conference (NC). According to the KNS correspondent, addressing party workers in north Kashmir's Kupwara district, Lone said that the erstwhile government served the people for three years. 'Out of three years, the situation in one year remained tense. But the two years of the governance by the erstwhile government was far better than last 18 years of NC rule in Jammu and Kashmir. We promised people of change in the political system and the change is visible on the ground,' he said. He said that the grievances of people affiliated with other party were also being redressed during last three years. The former minister praised the workers for remaining standing like pillars, saying that 'the enemies tried to harm but the commitment and dedication of yours (party workers) defeated them.' 'Whatever they (enemies) are to say, but I assure you that they will be defeated if you (workers) will stand committed to the party,' he said. He said that the people of this frontier district in the past 18 years were ignored but the erstwhile government focused on equitable development. 'It was just a beginning and incase a party would come up before you, people have to stand committed at that time too,' he added. He said that the people have sacrificed a lot and have bore the atrocities but 'I assure that all your grievances will be fulfilled.'
