'While terming the ban on JKLF as undemocratic and uncalled for, they also expressed their serious concern on the arrest and slapping of PSA on Muhammad Yasin Malik. They appealed them to write to UK govenmnet to use their offices in lifting the ban and to urge India to release all arrested political detainees including Malik. APPG members include member parliament and shadow minister Afzal Khan and Lord Qurban Hussain,' he said. The statement further said that the acting chairman of JKLF, Abdul Hameed Butt stated that United Nations (UN) through one of its resolutions has in categorical te rms made it clear that such elections in Jammu Kashmir can never be a substitute to the right of self-determination of the people of the state. 'UN in its resolution has emphasised to both the countries for early resolution of the disputed State of Jammu Kashmir through the free and fair exercise of the right of self-determination or plebiscite so that people are able to decide about their fate,' he said. Butt criticised pro-India Kashmiri politicians for shedding their crocodile tears. He said that Kashmiri people have all along rejected these politicians by not participating in these 'farcical' elections. 'New Delhi must take note of this fact that by banning JKLF and JeI, they cannot make valiant Kashmiri people to surrender their right of freedom and right of self-determination,' he added.
