Srinagar: Days ahead of first phase of polls, terrorists unleashed a fresh wave of violence when they killed a civilian inside his shop in broad daylight in Baramulla town on Saturday. Arjumand Majeed Bhat alias Raju Mistry, 35, a chemist by profession was shot dead when two terrorists stormed his shop and fired at him from the close range. 'Terrorists killed civilian Arjumand Majid Bhat at Main Town. Baramulla police has registered a case for investigation', tweeted Kashmir Zone police. A massive hunt has been launched to nab the terrorists responsible for the incident. The incident in the town comes two months after Jammu and Kashmir police declared Baramulla militancy free after last remnant resident militants were neutralized in January this year. Arjumand, sources said was a social worker who was also coordinator of drug de-addiction centre of Baramulla. Sources said he was instrumental in organising seminars against the drug abuses in the valley. He was also a chemist and running a medicine store in Baramulla town along with his brother. The killing has come just 11 days before Baramulla is going to polls in the first phase of Parliament elections. The killing of the civilian comes days after two Pakistani Lashkar-e-Tioba terrorists killed a 12-year-old boy Atif Ahmad after holding him hostage during an encounter at Hajin in North Kashmir's Bandipora district. Police said family sources had told them that one of the slain ultra Ali wanted to marry Atif's sister and that is why he was held hostage to pressurise family to solemnise nikah. Saturday's killing is the sixth in the series and fourth in Kashmir since election dates were announced. On Wednesday terrorists sent a chilling reminder to the security forces when they killed a civilian in a cold blood in South Kashmir's Shopian district.
