Forces Find Terror Plot To Attack IAF Bases In Jammu And Kashmir

New Delhi: An Indian Air Force Base in Srinagar was intended as the target of a fidayeen attack to avenge the Balakot airstrikes, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir uncovered on Saturday. The plot unravelled after they found a map, shared with DNA by security forces, on the person of a terrorist killed in an encounter in the state on Thursday. They say it is of the IAF base in Srinagar, and an attack on more bases was planned. Reconnaissance and course of attack were already charted. Intelligence Bureau has been directed to gather more information and the IAF has been alerted. 'Terrorists have made IAF bases their new target to avenge the Balakot air strikes,' said a senior security officer. On Thursday, five terrorists were killed in two separate encounters in south Kashmir. Three were killed in Pulwama, while two were killed in Shopian. Forces have not revealed the name of the terrorist from whom the map was recovered. A map was found on the person of a terrorist killed on Thursday. Security forces say it points to a plot to attack IAF bases to avenge the air strikes in Balakot.
