Srinagar: Authorities in Kashmir Valley have reportedly sent a status report of political detainees to Government of India and if sources are to be believed, a couple of prisoners are likely to be released in coming days as suggested by authorities in their report. Authorities in Kashmir Valley have filed a report in which it has given thorough details about the political detainees lodged at MLA Hostel. There are over 30 political leaders affiliated with different regional parties who have been lodged in the makeshift jail from first week of August this year. These leaders were arrested after Government of India abrogated special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Sources said that the designated State officials have already approached some of the political leaders and have sent a detailed report to North Block in New Delhi. In the report, it has been mentioned that incarcerated political leaders were approached to know how they want to proceed with politics in the state after their release. Sources added authorities in their report have recommended the freedom of many political leaders who as per the report are no threat to peace and have virtually agreed to follow the conditions laid down in the government bond. Sources further said that the relatives of various political detainees have approached court of law to ensure their release. These relatives are citing the deteriorating health as the main reason of 'freedom' of these political prisoners. A lawyer wishing anonymity confirmed that relatives of National Conference incarcerated General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar applied for his bail a couple of days ago and so did the relatives of few other political relatives.
