No Relief, 8 Fresh Cases

Jammu: The J&K Administration on Thursday said eight new positive cases of Covid, five from Jammu division and three from Kashmir, had been reported, taking the total number of positive cases in the UT to 70. According to the daily Media Bulletin on coronavirus, out of 70 positive cases, 65 are active positive, three have recovered and two patients have died. Regarding their location, 53 of these cases are from Kashmir division and 17 from Jammu division. The bulletin further informed that the first Covid positive case from Kashmir division had fully recovered and had been discharged from the hospital. Furthermore, till date, 17,677 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases had been put under surveillance. These include 10,694 persons in home quarantine, including in facilities operated by government, 622 in hospital quarantine, 65 in hospital isolation and 4,109 under home surveillance. Besides, 2,187 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period. Till date, 1,084 samples have been sent for testing of which 1,010 have tested negative, 70 are positive while four reports are awaited. Meanwhile, the authorities declared Chattabal locality in Srinagar as red zone on Thursday after four Covid positive cases were detected from there. The district administration, Srinagar, in a tweet informed that the Chattabal area of Srinagar had been declared a 'Red Zone'. 'Chattabal has been declared a containment (Red) Zone in view of the cluster of 4 positive cases. Containment zone: Administrative boundary of the residential colony and a buffer zone of additional 5 km radius,' the District Administration, Srinagar, said in tweet.
