Srinagar: As the novel coronavirus positive cases pile on in Jammu and Kashmir, the UT administration has more reasons to be concerned. The Union territory has so far reported 184 Covid-19 positive cases - 32 in Jammu and 152 in Kashmir. But the number can spike rapidly as the authorities have revealed that results of at least 648 high-risk persons were awaited. These people, the officials said, had a high probability of testing positive for novel coronavirus, which has killed over 160 people across India and infected over 5800 others. The administration in Srinagar has said that various steps were being taken to control the situation. 'Srinagar city has been divided into 25 zones. We have 1,000 teams, with 4,000 people on job in these zones. We have to ensure that there is no leakage from Red-Zones,' said Dr Shahid Chaudhry, DC Srinagar. The administration has informed that there are 648 cases - mostly contacts of the earlier positive patients who are high risk. There are also 6,112 low-risk cases in Srinagar city. 'Close to 800 to 900 people had hidden their travel history and they were traced through our control room which used crowdsourcing of information and were quarantined or put under isolation,' said Dr Shahid Chaudhry. While urging the people to stay at home and observe social distancing, the administration also assured that there was no shortage of medicine. 'No shortage of medicine. Two aircraft of medicine have arrived on April 6 and 7 and one more is expected today. We will ensure to get the required medicine from any place across the country. It is our duty,' said Dr Shahid on Thursday. The city police have sought cooperation from the people in dealing with the crisis. Hinting that there could be more strict measures for the public the city police chief said passes will only be valid for the place of stay to the place of work. 'This is not usual law and order lockdown but 24x7 lockdown. Don't come out in the evening as you did during other days,' day SSP Srinagar Haseeb Mughal.
