Pak Pushing Militants When World Is Battling Covid-19: DGP21 April 2020
Jammu: The Director General of police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said on Tuesday that Pakistan was trying to push militants through line of control (LoC) and international border (IB) into Jammu and Kashmir when the entire world is making efforts to combat coronavirus pandemic. Singh said that Pakistan and its sponsored militants were making all out attempts to disrupt the measures being taken to safeguard the lives of the people in J&K. He said that even during the present health crisis 'our forces would continue to consolidate peace while maintaining good security and law and order grids' J&K DGP was referring to the recent militant attacks in a meeting co-chaired by him and Advisor to Lieutenant Governor R.R Bhatnagar to review the security as also the present ground situation in view of the Covid-19 pandemic in Kashmir valley, a police spokesperson said. Senior police officers attended the meeting through video conferencing. Singh said that Pakistan agencies were engaged with various activities at their launching pads in Pakistan and Pakistan controlled Kashmir to push in militants into J&K through IB and LoC to further its 'nefarious designs of disturbing peace and normalcy and lives and livelihoods of the people' without bothering about its own people who have become Corona victims. 'A recent report suggested that even the terrorists at their training centres and launching pads in Pakistan and PoK are suffering from Coronavirus infections,' the police spokesperson said. The officers of Kashmir Zone briefed about the measures taken regarding the security and arrangements at various quarantine centres and health protocols in their respective districts. Addressing the officers, DGP said that it was important to ensure that government orders and the health protocols are followed on the ground. He said that no unauthorized traffic and movement of the people be allowed except in cases where such movement is exempted. Advisor Bhatnagar appreciated the role of police and central armed forces for the hard work being put in ever since March 22nd in tackling the situation and assisting the administration, and health department in combating the novel coronavirus and ensuring lockdown restrictions to check the spread of the epidemic.
