Jammu Bucks Virus Trend With 72% Recovery Rate

Jammu: With over 72 per cent recovery rate, the 10 districts of the Jammu province are bucking the coronavirus trend as the death rate in the region is much lower as compared to the other parts of the country. The red zones of Jammu district - Janipur, Gujjarnagar, Bathindi, Sunjwan and Kalika Colony - have already been converted into orange zones. Of the total 58 positive cases, only one patient has lost his life, while 42 have been completely cured and discharged from hospitals. Those who have recoevered include a six-month-old baby who was infected along with his mother and sister. While there is no case in the Poonch and Doda districts, Kishtwar and Samba have also become Covid free after the patients from the two districts recovered. On Tuesday, all four patients of Samba district were discharged from the hospital. After witnessing a dangerous trend earlier, no sample has tested positive in Jammu district since April 14. Of the 26 positive virus cases, 18 have recovered and have been discharged from hospital. A senior doctor at Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, said the 'lockdown is showing the desired result as people are religiously following the restrictions'. He said the efforts of the health workers had also yielded encouraging results.
