Shelling Continues To Rattle LoC12 September 2020
Jammu: India and Pakistan troops traded gunfire for the fourth consecutive day Saturday along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistani troops on Saturday evening violated ceasefire by resorting to unprovoked firing and intense shelling along the LoC in Poonch district, a defence spokesman said. The Indian Army retaliated befittingly and the cross-border firing between the two sides in Mankote and Gulpur sectors was going on when last reports were received, the spokesman said. He said there was no report of any casualty in the Pakistani shelling which started around 8 pm. On Friday, Pakistan troops had opened heavy fire and shelled mortars at forward areas along the LoC in Mankote sector. Prior to it, Pak troops had targeted Malti and Degwar sectors along the LoC in Poonch with mortar bombs. On September 2, a JCO was killed in a ceasefire violation by the Pakistan Army along the LoC in Keri sector of Rajouri.
