LG Briefs PM On Security, Development Situation Of J&K In New Delhi

Jammu 03 Feb: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and briefed him on various aspects of situation in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. During his stay in the Union capital for three days, Sinha also met Speaker Om Birla, Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Shandilya Giriraj Singh and Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Jal Shakti Parhlad Singh among others.

Kashmiri Pandits Demand 2.5% Of J&K's Annual Budget For Migrants' Resettlement

Srinagar 03 Feb: Kashmiri Pandits on Thursday demanded the inclusion of 2.5 per cent of Jammu and Kashmir's annual budget for resettlement and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants as recommended by the office of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Hybrid militant of TRF arrested in Hajin, arms, ammo recovered: Police

Bandipora 03 Feb: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a hybrid militant in Check Chandergair area of Hajin in Bandipora district and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession. According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS) , a spokesperson said that today Bandipora police and security forces came to know about suspicious movement of TRF militants in Chandergair area of Hajin. Accordingly a naka was laid by Bandipora Police along with 13 RR at Check-Chandergair and during search of pedestrians and vehicles, one suspected person tried to conceal his presence on seeing the naka party, who was tactfully apprehended, reads the statement.

Srinagar Administration provides immediate assistance of Rs 1.0 Lac to the Acid Attack survivor

SRINAGAR 03 Feb: ( KNS ) The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad along with Senior Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Balwal Thursday visited SMHS Hospital to oversee the medical treatment levels to the 24-year old acid attack survivor. During the visit, the DC and SSP interacted with the parents of the acid attack victim. Expressing anguish at the incident, the DC and SSP conveyed their solidarity to the victim and her family in this hour of pain.

Pak Businessman Claims India, Pak In Backchannel Talks

Islamabad 03 Feb: A leading Pakistani businessman has claimed that India and Pakistan are engaged in backchannel talks and the same will hopefully yield good results in the future. 'If things improve between the two neighbours, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi could visit Pakistan in a month,' Mian Muhammad Mansha claimed on Wednesday, according to Dawn newspaper.

Militant killed in Shopian on day of 4 CASOs in district

SHOPIAN 03 Feb: A militant was killed on Wednesday in an encounter with government forces in an orchard area between Nadigam and Nowpora villages in south Kashmirs Shopian district, police said. The slain militant was identified by police as Umar Ishfaq Malik aka Musa, son of Abdul Ahad Malik, a resident of Bongam locality in main town Shopian. A cordon and search operation in the area was launched by a joint team of government forces including 34 Rashtriya Rifles of army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and 178th battalion of Central Reserve Police Force after inputs about the presence of militants in the area, police said in a statement.

Mehbooba, Omar target Ktaka college admin for denying entry to Muslim girls wearing hijab

Srinagar 03 Feb: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah on Thursday hit out at a college administration in Karnataka for denying entry to Muslim girls who were wearing hijab. Mehbooba also hit out at the Centre saying its slogan for educating girl child was hollow as Muslim girls were denied education for wearing hijab. Beti bachao beti parhao is yet another hollow slogan.

Release Ailing PDP Leader Parra, Jammu And Kashmir Leaders Urge Amit Shah

Srinagar 03 Feb: Top Jammu and Kashmir politicians, including Members of Parliament (MPs), cutting across the party lines, on Thursday sought the intervention of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and demanded the immediate release of ailing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra from jail.
