Pak Indulged In Persecuting Natives Of Gilgit-Baltistan, PoJK: Masood

Jammu 20 Feb: Highlighting the unending plight of the natives of Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan, Jamil Masood, representative of NGO at United Nations Human Rights Councils Geneva today urged the Indian Government to liberate areas of the erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir illegally occupied by Pakistan since 1947.

NC, Cong, PDP Did Criminal Injustice With Tribals: Raina

Weapons Abandoned By US In Afghanistan Recovered From Militants Killed Along LoC

Srinagar 20 Feb: Pakistani militants killed along the LoC in recent months have been found in possession of sophisticated weapons abandoned by the American troops in Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover last year and the weapons 'could reach Kashmir anytime', a top Army officer has said. Major General Ajay Chandpuria said that they have recovered arms and ammunition 'from terrorists killed near Line of Control (LoC) which were used by the U.S. in Afghanistan', reported news agency ANI.

Dr Farooq calls for larger role for women in decision, policy making

JAMMU 20 Feb: ( KNS ) Saying that the National Conference has all along been striving for gender equality, party President Dr Farooq Abdullah today emphasized on political empowerment of women and their larger role in policy and decision making. Involvement of women in decision making and policy planning is necessary for achieving comprehensive, unbiased and sustainable development, which will eventually lead to harmonious growth of the society, Dr Abdullah said while interacting with the newly constituted NC Provincial Women Wing at a function here this afternoon. Raids conducted at 21 locations in Bahu tehsil of Jammu regarding missing of revenue records

Srinagar 20 Feb: Joint teams of police and revenue authorities on Sunday carried out raids at 21 locations in Bahu Tehsil of Jammu district in connection with a case registered in November 2021 regarding missing of revenue records. In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS) , a spokesperson said that as part of the ongoing investigation in case FIR No. 182/2021 lodged on 07-11-2021 in Police Station Channi Himmat regarding missing of revenue records viz.

Ailing Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Watali moved out of jail but put under house arrest

New Delhi 20 Feb: Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Watali, arrested by the National Investigation Agency in 2017 in a terror financing case, has been moved out of a jail and put under house arrest to facilitate treatment for a terminal disease. A special NIA court earlier this month rejected Watalis application for a regular bail but took a compassionate view of his illness and allowed him to avail treatment from house but in judicial custody. Taking into consideration the advice of doctors from a private hospital as well as those from the AIIMS, the special NIA court said Watalis bail application deserves dismissal as it has been rejected by the Supreme Court.

In Ladakah, Army commander briefed on prevalent security situation at LAC

Srinagar 20 Feb: Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, who is on a five-day visit to Ladakh, was on Sunday briefed on the prevalent security situation along the Line of Actual Control, a defence spokesman said here. This is his maiden visit to Ladakh after taking over the charge of the Northern Army Command based at Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir. Lt Gen Dwivedi arrived in Leh on Saturday.

Vote only for PAGD allies in the next J&K assembly polls: Mehbooba

Jammu 20 Feb: PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday urged people to vote for PAGD allies in the next J&K assembly polls to defeat the BJP and its associates, which, she said, were hampering the case of restoration of the special status in the apex court. She also reiterated her call for a peaceful struggle for the restoration of snatched rights , saying the August 5, 2019 development was like an earthquake and its aftershocks are still continuing with this government taking away something on a daily basis from us . The PAGD is a coalition of six parties, including the National Conference, PDP and CPI(M), seeking restoration of Jammu and Kashmirs special status under the revoked Article 370 of the Constitution.

Indian Delegation To Visit Pak For Indus Commission Meet From Mar 1-3

Mumbai 20 Feb: A 10-member Indian delegation will visit Pakistan for the annual meeting of the Permanent Indus Commission from March 1-3, a senior Jal Shakti Ministry official said on Sunday. In a first since the signing of the Indus Water Treaty between the two countries, three female officers will also be part of the Indian delegation, which will be advising the Indian Commissioner on various issues during the meeting, the official said. Last year, a delegation led by the Pakistan Commissioner for Indus Waters had visited India for the annual meeting.

Suspected LeT Terrorist Arrested In Doda

Jammu 20 Feb: A suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist was arrested in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on February 20. Adil Iqbal Butt, a resident of Sazan-Bajarni village, was apprehended by a joint search party of police, Rashtriya Rifles and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) during checking of vehicles at Thathri on February 19, the officials said.
