J&K Delimitation Commission To Discuss Views Of J&K MPs

Srinagar 24 Feb: The Delimitation Commission on Jammu and Kashmir will discuss the suggestions given by the MPs from the union territory on Thursday. Headed by the former Supreme Court Justice Ranjana Desai, the Commission will discuss the proposal given by the five MPs, who are associate members of the panel.

Altaf Bukhari calls for an immediate evacuation of all stranded J&K students from Russia, Ukraine

Srinagar February 24 24 Feb: (KNS) J&K Apni Party President Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari has urged the Union Government of India to take up necessary steps for ensuring the safe evacuation of all students hailing from Jammu and Kashmir who are stranded in the war-hit Ukraine and Russia region. According to a statement issued yo Kashmir News Service (KNS), Altaf Bukhari has demanded the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure the safety of the students hailing from Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the parents of these young students are reasonably worried and given the suspension of flight operations, students are pushed into complete uncertainty.

Export Registration in J&K goes up by 173 percent

JAMMU 24 Feb: (KNS) Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), a Government of Jammu and Kashmir Undertaking, collaborated with Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) to achieve the vision of Export promotion in UT of J&K with its registration drives for handholding the potential Exporters from J&K and facilitating them in getting new Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) which resulted in net increase of export registrations by 173%. IEC is a key business identification number that is mandatory for exports or imports. Further, number of issued IEC in Jammu and Kashmir has increased from 204 new registrations in 2020 to 557 in 2021.

JKPM opposes proposal of opening 6 new wine shops in Kashmir

Srinagar 24 Feb: Jammu and Kashmir People`s Movement president, Dr GH Mustafa Khan has opposed the proposal of government to open 51 wine shops across Jammu and Kashmir in which 6 new wine shops are to be open in the Kashmir Valley. In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Khan said the government is responsible for the drug abuse in Kashmir as they are passing orders to open more wine shops in Kashmir Valley instead of closing the existing wine shops at Srinagar. He said that such irresponsible and unilateral decisions will further push the youth of UT towards a menace of drug addiction which has already damaged the social fabric to a large extent.

In order to achieve this target, the administration has taken several path breaking reforms in the power sector which will change the dynamics of power sector here. Tapping 20,000MW Power Potential In the past 70 years, only 3500 MW out of the potential of 20,000 MW had been harnessed in Jammu and Kashmir.

Flight Ops Resume from Srinagar As Visibility Improves

Srinagar 24 Feb: Air traffic to and from Kashmir resumed on Thursday following improvement in visibility, officials said. The flight operations at the Srinagar airport were suspended on Wednesday due to bad weather after heavy snowfall in the Valley. The officials said the operations resumed on Thursday afternoon.

Srinagar 24 Feb: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has set a target to harness the region's hydropower potential to make the Union territory power surplus in next five years. Army apprehends suspicious Bangladesh citizen in Baramulla

Srinagar 24 Feb: Army has apprehended a suspect person from Bangladesh in north Kashmirs Baramulla district, official sources said. They said that the person was apprehended on intervening night of February 22 and 23 from Sultan Dhaki area. Identifying the detained person as Rabiual Islam, son of Mohd Sami Ulla, resident of Bangladesh, presently living at Bhagwan Jala, Kolkatta in West Bengal, they further said the person is under custody of police at Uri.

Police find huge cache of arms, explosives dropped from drone near border

Jammu 24 Feb: Police on Thursday claimed recovery of three remote controlled Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), six grenades and a pistol besides other ammunition in RS Pora area of Jammu. The recovery comes hours after Border Security Force (BSF) reportedly fired at a drone along the international border in RS Pora and Arnia sectors of Jammu district. On the basis of input regarding drone activity and dropping of arms and ammunition by Pak based (militant) outfits LeT/TRF on the behest of Pak agency ISI in RS Pura Arnia area, special search operation was launched by police including SOG, a police spokesman said in a statement, adding, During the search operation three boxes of the arms ammunition which were dropped through drone during night hours were recovered by the search party from Treva village of Arnia , RS Pura.

3 LeT Terrorists, 1 Associate Arrested In Kashmir

Srinagar 24 Feb: Jammu and Kashmir Police along with security forces arrested three active terrorists including two hybrid terrorists of proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) from Budgam and Baramulla. Besides, one terrorist associate was also arrested. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession.
