Bureaucracy not an alternative for popular govt in any democracy: Sunil Sharma
Lateef Bhat Jammu 03 Mar: Bhartiya Janta Partys Jammu and Kashmir
general secretary, (Incharge Kashmir Division)Sunil Sharma on Thursday
said that bureaucracy cannot be an alternative for popular government in
any democracy and that elections will soon be held in J&K. On Wednesday, Sunil Sharma had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in
New Delhi to discuss several issues including revival of Village
Defence Committees. After returning from Delhi, Sharma while talking to Kashmir News
Service (KNS) in Jammu said that holding elections is the job of
election commission and the centre government.
NC condemns killing of Panch in Kulgam
Srinagar March
03 03 Mar: (KNS) The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and
MP from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah
condemned the despicable act of killing of a Panch member Muhammad
Yaqoob Dar at Kulipora Srandoo Kulgam. They condemned the killing unreservedly and expressed unison with
the bereaved family in their hour of grief. They prayed for peace to the
soul of the departed.
PHDCCI hails initiatives of adopting youth-centric policies for J&Ks unemployed youth
Srinagar March
03 03 Mar: (KNS) The J&K government`s new resolution to equip its youths
with entrepreneurship skills and building a database of 5 lakh youth by
April 2022 has earned praises from PHDCCI-J&K Mr Baldev Singh Raina has applauded the UT administration for
adopting the youth centric policies , Baldev Singh said that the issue
was religiously raised by PHDCCI as alarming by CMIE report wherein
J&K is having 15% unemployment rate which is almost 3 times the
national unemployment rate of country. The Government of J&K headed by Manoj Sinha ji and Chief
Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta has done a highly commendable work by
providing handholding to youth of J&K through Mission Youth which
aims at creating a strong and prosperous generation of youngsters. The mission youth is lead by dynamic administrative officer Dr
Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary and that needs to be empowered with J&K Youth
Advisory Council, a high-power committee for Youth Policy
Implementation through J&K Youth Development Corporation (JKYDC),
and Yuva Bhavans or Youth Clubs each district headquarters needs to be
established.
Revival of VDCs contradicts tall claims of normalcy in J&K :CPI(M)

3 03 Mar: (KNS) Describing the reported plans of the Centre and the Jammu and
Kashmir administration to revive the Village Defence Committees (VDCs)
as alarming, CPI(M) leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami said that the move is
bound to prove counter-productive. These committees have faced accusations of gross abuses in J&K
in the recent past. Reportedly J&K Police has filed around 200 cases
against VDC members for rape and murder etc.
Sunil Sharma thanks PM Modi, Amit Shah for reviving VDCs in J&K
Srinagar 03 Mar: Bharatiya Janta Party general secretary and in charge Kashmir division,
Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar districts, Sunil Sharma has expressed
gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah
for resolving long pending demands of Village Defence Committees. According to reports reaching Kashmir News Service (KNS) the central
government has revived the old Village Defence Committees (VDCs)and it
has been renamed as Village Defence Groups (VDGs). Sunil Sharma on Wednesday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the issues of VDCs and Dhok Defence Committees (DDCs).
Tarigami condemns killing of panch in Kulgam

Strongly condemning the killing of Mohamad Yaqoob Dar, a panch by
unknown gunmen at Kulpora, Kulgam, CPI(M) leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami
has termed the incident as heinous, which should be condemned by one
and all. Expressing sympathy with the bereaved family, the CPI(M) leader has
conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the victim`s family. Militancy Down, Not Over In J&K: DGP
Jammu 03 Mar: Stating that the improvement in the overall security situation in J&K was a welcome step but nevertheless militancy was still a challenge as it was not over even though it has come down significantly. Talking to media men on the sidelines of a sports event in Jammu, the DGP said that the situation indeed has improved in J&K but militancy was still a challenge as it wasn't over yet.
'I Can't Be Silenced', Says Vivek Agnihotri After Petition To Stall The Release Of 'The Kashmir Files'
Srinagar 03 Mar: A PIL has been filed against Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri's upcoming movie The Kashmir Files by a resident from UP named Intezar Hussain Sayed seeking to stall the release of the film. After the trailer of the movie was released, the petitioner has alleged that the trailer hurts the religious feelings of the Muslim community. However, Vivek Agnihotri has denied the allegations and said that his movie only shows the truth.
GoI renames VDC as JK Village Defence Guard, hikes honorarium
New Delhi 03 Mar: The Centre has decided to change the name of the
Village Defence Group in Jammu and Kashmir to Village Defence Guard
(VDG) and give members a monthly honorarium. The move came apparently to bolster the security grid in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in rural areas. According to a Home Ministry communication to the Jammu and Kashmir
administration, the members of the Village Defence Group shall be
designated as Village Defence Guard (VDG) henceforth.
Rs 7.25 crore properties in JKCA money laundering scam attached
New Delhi 03 Mar: The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday said it
has provisionally attached immovable properties worth Rs 7.25 crore of
Ahsan Ahmad Mirza in an ongoing case of alleged money laundering by
former office bearers of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association
(JKCA). This is the third attachment order in the case. Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullahs property was
provisionally attached in December 2020 and this was challenged in the
Jammu and Kashmir High Court.
India Taking `Some Steps` To Restore Normalcy In Kashmir: US
KO File Photo Washington 03 Mar: The Indian government has taken some
steps to restore normalcy in Kashmir, a senior US diplomat has told
American lawmakers, while asserting that the Joe Biden administration is
keeping a close eye on the security situation, including militant
threats in the region. The Indian Parliament had revoked the special status of Jammu and
Kashmir, bifurcating the state into two Union Territories on August 5,
2019. We do see the Indian government taking some steps to restore
normalcy.
Indus Water Treaty: India To Give More Project Data To Pakistan
Islamabad 03 Mar: India has agreed to provide additional
data on several western hydropower projects to Pakistan during an annual
meeting between the officials of the two countries held here under the
Permanent Commission on Indus Waters (PCIW), a media report said on
Thursday. The three-day meeting between the two commissioners of PCIW completed
discussions on all agenda items on Wednesday. The talks were held in a
very cordial environment and the final outcome of crucial parleys is
expected to be announced on Thursday.
Hurriyat Conference (G) Vice-chairman Dar Held Under PSA
Srinagar 03 Mar: Hurriyat Conference (G) vice-chairman Ghulam Ahmad Dar has been booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and arrested by J&K Police. According to senior police officials, Dar was booked for 'giving inciting statements and statements adverse to public peace and tranquility of Kashmir Valley in general and Srinagar town in particular'.
