Ex PDP Zone President, several political workers from Srinagar join PC

Srinagar April 15 15 Apr: (KNS) Former PDP Zone President Mohd Maqbool Beigh along with Chairperson BDC, 04 BDC`s and 02 Sarpanches from Hazratbal constituency joined the Peoples Conference today. They were welcomed into the party by PC President Sajad Gani Lone and senior leader Mohammad Khursheed Alam at Srinagar today. While welcoming the new entrants, PC President said that their joining will immensely benefit the party.

Sarpanch shot dead by suspected militants in Pattan village

Mohsin Khan Pattan 15 Apr: Suspected militants on Friday evening shot dead a Sarpanch in Goshbugh area of Pattan in Baramulla district. Official sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the Sarpanch identified as Manzoor Ahmed Bangroo son of Late Mohmmad Sadiq was fired upon by suspected militants at Goshbugh area. They said that soon after the incident he was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Unemployment in J&K, taken an alarming turn: Dr Kamal

Srinagar April 15 15 Apr: ( KNS ) The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Party Additional General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal on Friday said that the predicaments suffered by J&K`s unemployed youth had taken an alarming turn. Expressing concern over the peaking youth distress in Kashmir, Dr Kamal said that the impending outreach focusing on Winning the J&K Youths Trust has added to the alienation levels of our educated and skilled and pushed them to the wall. Restoring confidence among our youth is a monumental task.

NC rues 7.59 percent inflation in J&K

Srinagar 15 Apr: National Conference on Friday expressed concern over skyrocketing inflation in Jammu and Kashmir, saying it is the poorest of poor, daily wagers and salaried class that are feeling the squeeze. Expressing concern over the peaking inflation in Jammu and Kashmir, NC state spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said the inflation rate had touched 7.59 percent in J&K which is even higher than the national inflation rate of 6.95 percent. There is no breather for inhabitants of J&K.

CAG calls for making officials accountable as J&K failed to submit 2,205 UCs for Rs 10,441 crore

Jammu 15 Apr: Jammu and Kashmir has failed to submit 2,205 utilisation certificates (UCs) for an amount of over Rs 10,441 crore as on March 31, 2020, the Comptroller and Auditor and General of India (CAG) has said, noting that officials should be held accountable for the lapse. It said the non-submission of the UCs means that authorities have not explained as to how funds were spent over the years and is fraught with the risk of misappropriation . As per the CAGs latest report on state finances, a total of 2,205 UCs involving Rs 10,441.58 crore was outstanding in J and K, of which 1,370 UCs amounting to Rs 5,972.99 crore was outstanding for more than a year.

GoI should restore democratic process in J&K: Bukhari

Jammu 15 Apr: Asserting that the current form of government has failed to deliver as per the expectations of the people in Jammu and Kashmir, Apni Party president Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari on Thursday strongly pitched for the start of democratic process in the union territory. Bukhari was speaking at the party office here during a joining programme of several advocates organised by provincial president of the Jammu Legal Cell Vikram Rathore. There is a need to start the democratic process in J&K.

If harmed, India will not spare anyone, says Rajnath Singh in a strong message to China

Washington 15 Apr: In a strong message to China, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that if harmed, India will not spare anyone, as he asserted that India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as a powerful country and is headed to be among the top three economies of the world. Singh, in his address to the Indian-American community in San Francisco, also sent a subtle message to the US that New Delhi does not believe in a diplomacy of zero-sum game and its relationship with one country cannot be at the expense of the other. The defence minister was here to attend the India US 2+2 ministerial in Washington DC.

Vengeance with which BJP bulldozing Constitution has reached homes of minorities: Mehbooba

Srinagar 15 Apr: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday accused the BJP of bulldozing the Constitution and the saffron partys leaders of outdoing each other in stripping Muslims of their homes and livelihood. She was referring to the Khargone district administration in Madhya Pradesh demolishing at least 50 illegal structures of people accused of pelting stones at a Ram Navami procession. A stone thrown at a Ram Navami procession during which loud music was being played near a mosque in Khargone led to arson and communal tension last Sunday.

PoK 'Prime Minister' Resigns After Party Revolt

Muzaffarabad 15 Apr: In another setback to Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan-controlled Kashmir (PcK), Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, has resigned following a revolt in the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party against him. Niazi, hand-picked by his party chief Khan, resigned on Thursday after 25 lawmakers of his party moved a resolution of no-confidence motion against him to replace him with party's regional president Sardar Tanveer Ilyas.

Return Of 1990s Threat Letters To Kashmiri Hindus! Lashker-e-Islam Orders Them To Leave Kashmir Valley Immediately

Srinagar 15 Apr: In more worrying developments, the Kashmiri Pandits living in Kashmir's Baramulla and other areas have once again received threat letters asking them to leave the Kashmir Valley immediately. The threat letters issued to them have brought back the haunting memories and fear of the 1990s during which several minority community members had received similar threat letters asking them either to convert to Islam, leave Jammu and Kashmir or face death.
