Al-Badr Member Declared Terrorist
New Delhi 20 Apr: The Centre designated Al Badr member
Arjumand Gulzar Dar alias Hamza Burhan as terrorist for his involvement
in a series of militant acts in Jammu and Kashmir. According to a Gazette notification issued on Tuesday by the Union
Ministry of Home Affairs, Arjumand Gulzar Dar alias Hamza Burhan alias
Doctor went to Pakistan on valid documents where he joined Al Badr. He
has been an active terrorist and commander of Al Badr, and since then
and currently has been operating from Pakistan, said the Gazette
notification.
High Alert In Jammu Ahead Of PM Modi`s Visit
Srinagar 20 Apr: The Security has been beefed up across
Jammu and Kashmir, especially the winter capital in an attempt to thwart
any subversive activities or untoward incidents in the run-up to Prime
Minister Narendra Modis one day visit to the Union Territory on April
24. Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in strength and are
conducting random checking of vehicles at hundreds of places in
J&K, a senior police officer said. Special checking points have been set up at various places in Jammu
region including entry and exit points as a precautionary measure to
maintain law and order.
300 additional companies of paramilitary forces to be deployed in Valley for Amarnath Yatra
Srinagar 20 Apr: Amid five five-tier security cover, at least 300
additional companies of security forces will be deployed for the
peaceful conduct of annual Amarnath Yatra commencing on June 30 this
year, officials in the Ministry of Home Affairs said Wednesday. The top brass of security has ensured deployment of forces in various
layers while pilgrims will be provided with wrist bands fitted with
microchips, as part of the renewed security measure. Officials in the MHA said that at least 300 additional companies will be
deployed for the incident-free pilgrimage.
Setback to Apni Party in Jammu, state womens president, several leaders resign
Jammu 20 Apr: In a major setback to Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party,
its womens wing state president Namrata Sharma and several of her women
colleagues resigned from the party on Wednesday minutes after the
party announced the immediate suspension of the state women president
and the provincial committee on the recommendations of the disciplinary
committee. The dramatic turn of events unfolded within days after the party
president and former minister Altaf Bukhari held a series of public
meetings in Samba, Kathua and Jammu in an attempt to strengthen the
party. My whole team has tendered resignation from the party on April 18 to
protest ignoring of Jammu leadership and unnecessary curbs to stop us
from raising the public issues like the demand for restoration of
statehood before assembly elections and holiday on account of the last
Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singhs birthday, Sharma told reporters here.
Three Coaches Of First Electric Train Reach Kashmir
Srinagar 20 Apr: Three coaches of the first electric train have reached Kashmir, and the rest seven would be arriving by the next month, officials revealed on Wednesday. Chief Area Manager, (CAM) Kashmir, Northern Railways Sakib Yousuf told Rising Kashmir that three coaches of a first electric train have reached Budgam station. 'Fourth coach is on its way to Kashmir from Udhampur railway station and will arrive within two days. Rest couches will be arriving by the end of next month,' he said.
