IED found on the roadside along Srinagar - Baramulla national highway, diffused

Waris Fayaz Sopore 11 Jun: An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found near Bulgam, Hygam in Sopore on Srinagar Baramulla national highway by the security forces this morning. The IED which as per reports was planted by the suspected militants was later diffused by the bomb disposal squad. Reports said, that on Saturday morning an IED was detected along roadside at Bulgam Hygam in North Kashmir`s Sopore.

People urge govt to ban religious debates, spreading hate on TV channels

Srinagar 11 Jun: People across all sections have urged the government to ban religious debates on TV channels as they are the main reason for spreading hate and venom among the people. Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), people across all sections of the society expressed concern over the rising trend of religious debates on TV channels spreading hate among different communities and religions. Government should act immediately and should act tough against these TV channels and the guests who hold religious debates as their sole aim is to spread hate and venom among the people, said a civil society member.

Gates of development opened in J&K after abrogation of Article 370: Union Min

JAMMU 11 Jun: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale on Saturday said that the Government of India wants a peaceful and developed J&K and is committed to develop Jammu and Kashmir on all fronts. At a press briefing in Jammu, he said that after the abrogation of Article 370, the gates of development have been opened for Jammu and Kashmir. This is evident from the fact that all the centrally sponsored schemes and programmes are now implemented in J&K be that the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, MUDRA, PM Ujjwala Yojana, Scholarship Schemes for Students, Welfare Schemes for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, he added.

Cong plans protest next week against BJPs politics of vendetta in Jammu

Jammu 11 Jun: Jammu and Kashmir Congress will hold a peaceful sit-in here against the BJP-led central governments politics of vendetta on June 13, the day when its leader Rahul Gandhi will appear before the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money-laundering case, a party spokesperson said on Saturday. The decision to stage a peaceful dharna on June 13 outside party headquarters at Shaheedi Chowk here was taken at a meeting of senior party leaders, chaired by Pradesh Congress Committee president G A Mir, the spokesperson said. He said the sit-in protest will start at 9.30 am by senior leaders and activists from different areas and followed by another batch of senior leaders and workers, if need be, till Gandhis return from the ED office.

Jammu 11 Jun: Union minister Ramdas Athawale on Saturday appealed to people, especially Muslims, to maintain peace amid widespread protests over recent controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad by two BJP leaders. The Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment also said the government and police are keeping an eye on those trying to trigger communal violence in the country. The BJP has already taken action against the two leaders and therefore, there is no need for an agitation.

Remarks on Prophet (SAW): YouTuber arrested in Srinagar for uploading video depicting beheading of BJP leader

Srinagar 11 Jun: A Kashmiri YouTuber, whose video depicting the beheading of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma had gone viral on social media platforms, was arrested here on Saturday for breaching public tranquillity and causing fear in the public, police said. Wani has deleted the video and apologised for it as well. Before his arrest, Wani posted another video in which he said he did not have any intention of hurting the sentiments of people or any religion.

Target killings aimed at fomenting unrest in Kashmir: LG Sinha

Srinagar 11 Jun: Target killings in the valley were an act of desperation on part of the militants to provoke security forces to commit a mistake so that people can hit the streets in protest, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Saturday. Target killings of innocent people have taken place. I believe the society should condemn it.

Srinagar 11 Jun: Three local terrorists of the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was killed during the encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Sunday (June 12, 2022). Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said, 'three terrorists killed in Pulwama encounter arms and ammunition recovered, one killed was involved in killing of policeman, operation has been concluded.'
