BJP led govt has weakened pillars of democracy: Tariq Karra

Srinagar 16 Jun: Senior congress leader Tariq Hameed Karra on Thursday said the BJP led government has weakened the pillars of democracy in the country. While addressing party workers, Karra said that wether it`s judiciary or media, this government has done everything to suppress the opposition to divert attention from its failures on all front. He said that BJP government is using agencies against Congress Party to settle political scores, besides fabricating baseless cases to tarnish the image of its leaders, but such measures will be defeated tooth and nail.

Major tragedy averted as forces recovered 15 Kg IED in Pulwama village, 2 OGW`s arrested : IGP Kashmir

Waris Fayaz Srinagar 16 Jun: Security forces on Thursday claimed to have arrested two over ground workers of a militant outfit and recovered an 15 Kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Armullah Litter village of Pulwama in South Kashmir district. Quoting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, Jammu and Kashmir Police on its official Twitter handle said that, Police along with other security forces recovered an IED and have arrested the two over ground workers (OGW`s) of militants involved in the crime. Security forces fencing wire of country, whoever tries to cut it bleeds himself: Rajnath Singh

Srinagar June 16 Jun: Defense Minister of India Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that security forces are fencing wire of country and whoever tries to cut it bleeds himself. Addressing personnel at Baramulla, Singh said that Pakistan continuously tries to disturb peace in the country through its approach of bleed India with a thousand cuts. But, security forces are such a protective shield for this country that whoever tries to break it, bleeds himself.

Urgent need to restore democracy in J&K: Vakil

Srinagar June 16 ( KNS ) 16 Jun: Senior vice president Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that the current administration has failed to do justice to the aspirations of the common masses of J&K and that there is an urgent need to restore democracy in J&K. While addressing on day party workers convention at Amargarh, Sopore, Vakil said that the people of J&K have been denied their constitutional right to elect a popular government to run the state of affairs. J&K has been under the Central rule for 4 years now and apprehensions are growing in the minds of the people that GoI is not serious in holding assemble elections as early as possible and allowing the people to chose their own representatives.

4 Hizb Militants Killed In Kulgam, Anantnag Encounters: Police

Srinagar 16 Jun: Four militants of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen were killed in two separate gunfights in Kulgam and Kokernag areas of south Kashmir on Thursday. One of them, police said, was involved in the killing of Hindu teacher Rajni Bala from Jammu in Kulgam district on May 31. On June 14, acting on specific information about presence of (militants) in village Mishipora area of Kulgam, police along with (Armys) 1st RR launched a cordon and search operation in the area, a police spokesperson said in a statement.

Jamaat Funding Case: NIA Searches 6 Locations In Kashmir

Srinagar 16 Jun: National Investigation Agency (NIA) with assistance of Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF raided multiple locations on Thursday in Kashmir valley in connection with a case registered against banned politico-religious organisation Jamaat e Islami, Kashmir. Official sources said that multiple locations were raided by the probing agency NIA backed by Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF in connection with a case registered against Jamaat. They said the case was registered by the probing agency NIA in pursuance to an order from Ministry of Home Affairs relating to separatist and secessionist activities of JeI, an unlawful association under the UA (P) Act, even after its proscription on 28.02.2019.

Curfew relaxed for 3 hours in Bhaderwah, situation peaceful

Bhaderwah, Jammu 16 Jun: Curfew was relaxed for three hours on Thursday morning in Bhaderwah town of Doda district as situation remained relatively peaceful with no untoward incident, officials said. Shops and business establishments reopened around 9 am, immediately after authorities announced the relaxation in the curfew that was imposed on June 9 following communal tension triggered by the remarks on Prophet Mohammad (SAW) by BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, who was later suspended, and social media posts by some local right wing activists in her support. The curfew had earlier been relaxed for two hours from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm on Wednesday, for the first time in a week.

IED detected in Pulwama: Police

Srinagar 16 Jun: Security forces on Thursday averted a major tragedy with timely detection of an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by militants in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said. Two associates of militants have been arrested in connection with the recovery of the IED, a senior police official said. Police and other security forces averted a major tragedy by recovering an IED, weighing around 15 kilograms, planted by terrorists in village Armullah in Litter area of Pulwama, he said.

Pak foreign min Bilawal makes a strong pitch for re-engagement with India

Islamabad 16 Jun: Pakistans Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Thursday made a strong pitch for re-engaging with India, saying cutting ties with New Delhi would not serve the countrys interests as Islamabad was already internationally isolated and disengaged. Addressing the Founding Day ceremony at the Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad, Bilawal said: We have our issues with India. Pakistan and India have a long history of war, conflict.

Pakistan trying to bleed India with a thousand cuts: Rajnath

Srinagar 16 Jun: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said Pakistan is continuously trying to disturb peace in Jammu and Kashmir through its approach of bleed India with a thousand cuts , but warned that a befitting reply will be given if attempt is made to hurt the unity and integrity of the nation. Our neighbour has always resorted to anti-India activities. The state also witnessed terror activities in the past.
