Srinagar 21 Jun: While role of Pakistan in fuelling terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir has become subdued as a result of the strong anti-terror policies of the PM Narendra Modi led government, the cornered terror groups are frustrated to an extent that now innocents including women and children have become their targets. Taking to Twitter, Kashmir Zone Police on Tuesday stated that 'by targeting innocent civilians including women & kids, unarmed policemen & outside labourers, terrorists can't deter our efforts to bring peace in valley,'

2 militants killed in Sopore encounter, searches on

Waris Fayaz Srinagar 21 Jun: Two militants have been killed in an encounter in Sopore area of Baramulla district on Tuesday morning, while searches were going on, police said here. An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS), that encounter broke out in Tulibal area of Sopore in the wee hours today. He said that in the ensuing encounter two militants have been killed, while arms and ammunition have also been recovered.

4 militants killed in twin encounters in Kashmir

Waris Fayaz Srinagar 21 Jun: Four local militants were killed in two separate encounters in Pulwama and Sopore areas of the Kashmir Valley in the last 24 hours, police said here on Tuesday. An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) two militants were killed in an encounter Tujjan village of Pulwama district. The slain militants were identified as Abid Ahmad Sheikh of Barpora Pulwama and Majid Nazir Wani of Banpora Pampore and were affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit.

5 houses attached in Srinagar for being used for purpose of militancy: Police

Srinagar 21 Jun: At least five residential houses were seized on Tuesday in Srinagar by Jammu and Kashmir police for being used for the purpose of militant activities in the district. Police in a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that today 5 residential houses used for wilful harbouring of militants were attached as per section 2(g) and section 25 of UAP Act. The statement reads that these houses were proved beyond doubt that these houses were used for purpose of militants and shelter was voluntarily and knowingly given by the members of the house.

Graph of militancy going down in J&K reflects stance of PM Modi led govt at Centre: Tarun Chugh

Srinagar 21 Jun: BJP national general secretary and in charge Jammu and Kashmir, Tarun Chugh on Tuesday said that the number of militants and the graph of militancy going down in Jammu and Kashmir is the reflection of stance by PM Modi led government in the Centre. Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Chugh said that PM Modi had made a promise with the people of Jammu and Kashmir that tourism will flourish and the UT will be made terrorism-free. The figures given by IGP Kashmir about number of militants killed in the Kashmir this year shows the commitment of forces and the stance by PM Modi led government that Kashmir is to be made terrorism-free and only tourism will flourish in the Valley, he said.

Take necessary CBM`s to make environment conducive for holding Assembly elections. Vakil to GoI

Sopore June (KNS) 21 Jun: Senior Vice President J&K Peoples Conference and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that the government of India should implement Confidence Building Measures ( CBM`s ), if they want larger participation of people in Assembly Elections as larger participation in the elections will make the election meaningful and purposeful thereby will be befitting reply for those who are inimical to peace in J&K. GoI should implement CBM`s on priorty which include granting statehood to J&K without making it conditional, release political prisoners, regularisation of daily wagers, a special employment package for unemployed youth and what is more important is to grant ST status to Paharis. Apart from these CBMs, GoI should take special measures to rejuvenate fruit industry as thousands of families are directly or indirectly associated with this industry.
