Dr Farooq, Omar Abdullah pay glowing tributes to the Martyrs of 13th July 1931

Srinagar July 12 (KNS) , July 12 : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Party President, Member of Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah have paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of 1931, calling the day a landmark in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. According to a statement issued here, while recalling the sacrifice of the 13 July martyrs, Dr Farooq said the day is an important landmark in the history of Jammu and Kashmir which will never go out of our sight. He stated the implications of the day thickened over time and resulted in the transformation of the state from a feudalistic to a democratic one.

India takes strong position on border row with China

Thiruvanthapuram , July 12 : External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today took a strong position on the Sino-India border row and asserted any unilateral attempts to change the Line of Actual Control (LAC) will not be 'countenanced' by India, and insisted that the ongoing problem was a fallout of the neighbour occupying strategic areas in 1962. The Union Minister's response came while answering a query seeking India's official position with regard to former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi's tweet claiming there was 'increasing Chinese infiltration' into Indian territory.

Jammu , July 12 : Even as consensus eludes over the name of new PCC president, Ghulam Nabi Azad is likely to be given free hand for rejuvenating Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Assembly elections in the Union Territory. Sources in the Congress circles told the Excelsior that the party leaders from Jammu and Kashmir, who met with the AICC general secretary (Organization) K C Venugopal and Incharge J&K Affairs Rajni Patil at 15 GRG Road, offered to support whatever decision the high command takes in interest of the organization in J&K.
