Congress to hold Satyagreh against misuse of Central agencies

Srinagar , July 16 : Congress shall hold Satyagreh on July 21st over misuse of Central investigation agencies, recruitment scams in J&K and playing with career of unemployed youths and rising prices due to tax terrorism. The meeting decided to hold peaceful protest dharna on July 21st against the Centre Govt, over misuse of Central agencies like ED, CBI, IT etc. against opposition leadership especially Congress leadership, besides the recruitment scam in Jammu and Kashmir, thus spoiling the career and future of educated youth and the rising prices due to tax terrorism of Modi Govt.

Pandit Group Gives Traditional Welcome To Hajis At Srinagar Airport

Srinagar , July 16 : In a heart-warming gesture, a group of Kashmiri Pandits on Saturday welcomed the first batch of Haj pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia and recited praises for Prophet Mohammed (Pbuh) at the airport here. The group of Kashmiri Pandits stood outside the terminal building of the Srinagar international airport and welcomed the first batch of 145 Hajis who reached here in the morning on the first return flight from the annual pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia to the Valley. The Pandits congratulated the Hajis for completing the pilgrimage and sought their blessings.

Army opens fire as drone spotted on LoC in Poonch

Jammu , July 16 : A drone was spotted flying along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district and it was forced to retreat after Army personnel opened fire, official sources said on Saturday. The drone was seen flying along the LoC near Baloni in the Krishna Gahti sector on Friday night, they said. The alert troops opened fire and the flying object returned back to the Pakistani-administered Kashmir side, the sources said.

Pakistani woman arrested for crossing LoC in Poonch

Jammu , July 16 : A Pakistani woman was arrested by the Army after she crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in JammuS Poonch district on Friday night, officials said. She was identified as Rozina (49), a resident of the Ferozbanda area in Pakistans Islamabad, they said. Rozina crossed the LoC at Chakra da Bagh in Poonch and was arrested, the officials said.

BJP accuses Kashmir-based leaders of 'indirectly' inciting communal passions, encouraging militancy

Jammu , July 16 : The Jammu and Kashmir BJP on Saturday accused Valley-based political leaders of 'indirectly' inciting communal passions, provoking violence and encouraging militancy. It alleged that both the National Conference and the PDP feel that everything is alright when they are in power but become 'ardent supporters' of Pakistan and ask the central government to talk to the neighbouring country to solve the Kashmir issue when they are out of power. J-K BJP spokesperson Y V Sharma lambasted former chief ministers Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti for issuing baseless and irresponsible statements and accused them of indirectly inciting communal passions.

Consultations over appointment of JK Cong president underway

Srinagar , July 16 : The Indian National Congress (INC), is right now enormously busy in consultations with J&K leadership to choose a new president for the party in the Union Territory. Sources told Rising Kashmir that senior Congress leader and former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is an 'undisputed' choice of majority of leaders who wish him to lead the party ahead of assembly election. A party insider disclosed that soon after Ghulam Ahmad Mir offered his resignation, the central level leadership had taken the matter seriously and initiated a process of consultations with local leadership about appointment of a new face in J&K.

Cabinet to take call on nomination of KPs, PoJK refugees before introduction of bill

New Delhi , July 16 : The Parliament is likely to witness a debate on Delimitation Commission report on Jammu and Kashmir as its copy will be laid in both Houses during Monsoon session starting July 18 while the Union Cabinet will take call on nomination of Kashmiri Pandits and PoJK residents to the Legislative Assembly as suggested by the Panel before introducing legislation. While business schedule of the Parliament is released on day-to-day basis, official sources told the Excelsior the Union Ministry of Home Affairs is likely to table report of the Delimitation Commission in both Houses of the Parliament.
