1.06 Crore Tourists Visited J&K From Jan To Jul 3 This Year: Centre

New Delhi , August 03 : An estimated 1.06 crore tourists have visited Jammu and Kashmir from January to July 3 this year, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. August 5 Anniversary: J&K Govt, BJP Plans Mega Events In Srinagar

Srinagar , August 03 : The Jammu and Kashmir administration has made all necessary arrangements to mobilize a massive crowd of over 15,000 people to celebrate the third anniversary of the abrogation of erstwhile states special status at the inauguration ceremony of the recently renovated Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar. As per sources privy to the development, the event will be presided over by J&K Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, who will also inaugurate the stadium on the morning of 5 August. Besides youth and sportspersons, top officials of civil administration and police will also participate in the event, sources told Kashmir Observer.

Mehbooba s New Twitter DP Shows Tricolour, Old J&K Flag

Srinagar , August 03 : PDP president Mehbooba Mufti Wednesday put a new Twitter display picture showing her late father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the national flag and the now-derecognised flag of Jammu and Kashmir. In his Mann ki Baat radio broadcast this Sunday, PM Modi had said the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” is turning into a mass movement and urged people to put “tiranga” as the profile picture of their social media accounts between August 2 and 15. Putting the new display picture, Mehbooba said the flag of Jammu and Kashmir might have been “snatched”, but it cannot be erased from the collective conscience of the people.

Militants Attack Police Vehicle In Srinagar

Srinagar , August 03 : Unidentified militants on Wednesday fired upon a police vehicle in Aloochibagh area of this capital city, officials said. The attack, according to the police, was carried out by militants at the Allochibagh bund on Wednesday evening, before fleeing from the spot under the cover of darkness. In Allochibagh bund area of Srinagar, terrorists fired upon a vehicle bound small police party.

Muharram Procession in Srinagar: HC Puts Ball In Govts Court

Srinagar , August 03 : The J&K and Ladakh High Court on Wednesday asked the government to take a call on Muharram procession from Guru Bazar to Dalgate here, observing that its the domain of the administration, security agencies and other stakeholders to take a call on it. A registered Trust of Shia community of Srinagar through its Secretary Aga Syed Mujtaba Abbas had filed a Public Interest Litigation, seeking direction upon the State authorities to allow the Shia Community to take out the religious processions especially on the August 8th from Guru Bazar to Dalgate. The Trust had also sought directions to provide necessary security for the procession.

Kashmiri Pandit Bizman Hoists Tricolor On Hurriyat Office

Srinagar , August 03 : Businessman-turned-political activist Sandeep Mawa on Wednesday affixed two national flags on the gate of the Hurriyat Conference office in the Rajbagh area here. Accompanied by just one person and a two-member crew of a private TV channel, Mawa, fixed the national flags on the main gate of the office of the Hurriyat Conference, an amalgam of various separatist parties in Kashmir. The Hurriyat office has been mostly closed since the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019.

MMU holds extraordinary meeting on Shia-Sunni unity

Srinagar , August 03 : In connection with the holy days of Ashura in the ongoing month of Muharram-ul-Haram, the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday held an emergency and extraordinary meeting of the Shia-Sunni Coordination Alliance at the office of the Central Jama Masjid Srinagar, which was presided over by the MMU district president Islamabad (Anantnag) and famous scholar Dr Peerzada Muhammad Sameer Shafi Siddiqui. The speakers stressed the consolidation and promotion of unity between the two major sections of Muslims Shia and Sunni, and in this context, they strongly condemned the uploading of offensive and seditious statements by some evil elements on social media.

Sagar rues development deficit in Kashmir

Srinagar , August 03 : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Wednesday said that Kashmir has become a byword for underdevelopment, unemployment and widespread administrative inertia, saying the good governance claims of the government have fallen flat. This was said by the party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar while addressing party functionaries at Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar. Ruing escalating development deficit, administrative inertia in Kashmir, Sagar said, “Tall claims of the GOI about good governance and bringing a seismic shift in addressing the concerns of the most vulnerable sections of society have fallen flat.

Vakil demands restoration of statehood 'not as charity but as right'

Militancy funding via 'Bitcoin' trade: Houses Of seven persons searched, says SIA

Srinagar , August 03 : State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Wednesday said that houses of seven persons were searched in three districts of Jammu and Kashmir in a case related to militancy financing via Bitcoin trade. A police spokesman said, SIA of J&K Police today conducted searches at multiple locations spread across J&K. House premises of suspects in Mendhar, Poonch, Baramulla, Kupwara and Handwara were searched in connection with investigation of case FIR No.12/22 U/S 18, 38, 39 UA (P) Act, 120-B, 121,121-A IPC registered in Counter Intelligence Police Station in Srinagar.
