Srinagar Reports More Corruption Cases In J&K In 2022

Srinagar , August 04 : Srinagar has reported more corruption cases compared to other districts of Jammu and Kashmir in the past seven months, officials said. Every fourth case of graft or misuse of official position was reported from the city during this period, they said. According to the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), a total of 94 graft cases were registered from January 1, 2022, till date.

Hurriyat urges GoI to release Mirwaiz on completion of 3 yrs under house detention

Srinagar , August 04 : Hurriyat Conference on Thursday said that its chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq completed three years of continuous house detention since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. It condemned this arbitrary, despotic and extra judicial act of the authorities of forcibly detaining its chairman in his house, leading to gross violation of all his fundamental and basic human rights. All channels of communication are blocked to him and all outreach to people friends and party cadre, barred, it said in a statement.

NC, Sajad Lone bat for Mirwaizs release

Srinagar , August 04 : National Conference and People’s Conference on Thursday threw their weight behind the Hurriyat Conference demand for release of the head Hurriyat Conference chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who has completed three years of house detention. “Spare a thought for Mirwaiz Kashmir. He is under continued detention for the last four years.

Some people not happy with peace in Kashmir: LG Sinha

Anantnag , August 04 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Thursday said that given the enormous resources in Jammu and Kashmir there was no need for the youth to pick up arms in 1990. Addressing a gathering at Ranipora in MattanAnantnag, he said that J&K has been bestowed with enormous resources and potential. There was no need for the youth to pick up arms (in 1990).

Three uncategorised militants arrested in Handwara: Police

SRINAGAR , August 04 : Police on Thursday said they arrested three militants along with arms and ammunition in north Kashmirs Handwara. A police official said that joint parties of Police, Army 21 RR and 92 Bn CRPF were conducting naka checking at Fruit Mandi Crossing at Handwara. Three persons, who attempted to flee the spot were arrested, it said.

Tourism in Kashmir getting big boost due to Art 370 abrogation: Reddy

New Delhi , August 04 : Union minister G Kishan Reddy on Thursday said Jammu and Kashmir registered a record footfall of tourists at airports and sightseeing places in the last several months due to transformative initiatives of the Modi government such as the abrogation of Article 370. His remarks came a day ahead of the third anniversary of the revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution and the bifurcation of the erstwhile state into UTs — J and K, and Ladakh. Will continue to fight for reversal of Article 370: NC

Srinagar , August 04 : National Conference on Thursday reiterated that it will continue its fight using all peaceful, legal and democratic means to reverse all Aug 05 2019 unconstitutional decisions. In a joint statement Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Provincial Presidents Nasir Aslam Wani, Rattan Lal Gupta, Senior Leaders Abdul Rahim Rather, Muhammad Shafi Uri, Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Mubarak Gul, Sakina Itoo, Shameema Firdous, MPs Mohammad Akbar Lone, Hasnain Masoodi said the day will always be remembered when the rights and dignity of people of J&K were illegally snatched away following the unilateral, and unconstitutional abrogation of Articles 370, 35 A. They said the day marks the unceremonious breaching of sacred commitments made to people of J&K in order to uphold the political agenda of BJP and the RSS.

Migrant Labourer killed, two others injured in Pulwama grenade attack

Srinagar , August 04 : A non-local labourer was killed and two others injured in a grenade blast in Gadoora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Official informed on Thursday. A police spokesman in a tweet said, "Terrorists hurled grenade on outside labourers at Gadoora area of #Pulwama. In this #terror incident, one labourer died and two others were injured.

Road construction in J&K gathers record pace after scrapping of Article 370

Srinagar , August 04 : The pace of construction of roads has increased after the scrapping of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019 from 6.54 kilometres to 20.6 kilometres a day. Now, the total length of roads in Jammu and Kashmir has touched 41,141 kilometres. The increased pace of macadamization of roads and growing road length indicate how rapidly Jammu and Kashmir has developed during the past three years.
