Kashmir Observes Ashura Today

Srinagar , August 08 : SSP Srinagar Srinagar- Ashura, marking the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammads (SAW) grandson, Imam Hussein (AS) and his faithful companions in the battle of Karbala 1400 years ago, will be observed across the Valley on Tuesday amid tight security and restrictions in Abi Guzar area of this capital city. Restrictions will be imposed in the Abi Guzar area falling under police station Kothibagh while administration is also deploying police and central forces in strength to maintain law and order on the 10th of Muharram, officials said. Speaking with Kashmir Observer, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Rakesh Balwal said that curbs will be imposed only near the Abi Guzar area in the uptown city.

War Against Corruption: ACB Filed 200 Cases Against Officials Since 2020

Srinagar , August 08 : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has tightened its noose as it has registered around 200 cases against corrupt government officials since 2020 in Jammu and Kashmir. Official figures reveal that the anti-graft body has registered around 200 cases against corrupt officials for the last two years in Jammu and Kashmir. These cases have been registered related to misuse of official position, corruption charges, disproportionate assets, illegal compensation, purchase of sub-standard drugs, illegal grant permission to constructions, irregularities in funds, backdoor appointments, and various other wrong doings.

NIA carries out raids in Doda, Jammu against JeI members in militancy funding case

Jammu, Doda , August 08 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out searches at multiple places in Jammu and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir against members of banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) in a militancy funding case, officials said. Simultaneous raids are underway at nearly a dozen places at the premises of JeI office-bearers and members in different parts of the two districts since early this morning, the officials said. Official sources said the raids are being carried out at Dhara-Gundana, Munshi Mohalla, Akramband, Nagri Nai Basti, Kharoti Bhagwah, Thalela and Malothi Bhalla in Doda district and Bhatindi in Jammu.

No Muharram restrictions in Srinagar except for Abi Guzar today: Police

Srinagar , August 08 : Police on Monday said that no restrictions would be imposed in Srinagar except for Abi Guzar in Lal Chowk on Ashoora, the 10th day of Muharram. The day marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala in Iraq and is observed as Youm-e-Ashoora. However, curbs will remain in place for traffic on various routes of the city, officials said.

SIA produces chargesheet against Waheed Para in Srinagar court

Srinagar , August 08 : State Investigation Agency today produced a supplementary charge sheet against accused PDP leader Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra in the Designated court Srinagar in FIR NO:31/2020 PS CIK. According to the sources, "The supplementary charge sheet also consists Abate challan against the OGW and terrorists involved in different terrorism acts (now killed) with whom accused waheed-ur-Rehman had developed links and hatched criminal conspiracy for political gains."

'No force used to regulate Muharram Procession in Srinagar': Police

Srinagar , August 08 : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday refuted reports about using force on Muharram procession in Srinagar yesterday and stated that Muharram processions are being held peacefully across the city. In a statement issued to media, a police spokesman said, “Some fake news (reports) are being circulated by vested interests about yesterday's Muharram by using old pictures and sharing them with oblivious media outside Kashmir. It is again categorically told that no force was used to regulate one Muharram route yesterday (banned since many decades)."

Jamaat-e-Islami Militant Financing Case: NIA conducts searches at Doda and Jammu

Srinagar , August 08 : National Investigation Agency on Monday conducted searches at Doda and Jammu Districts of Jammu and Kashmir in Jamaat-e-Islami J&K Terror Financing Case (RC 03/2021/NIA/ DLI). According to a statement issued to media here, Today (08.08.2022), NIA conducted searches at premises of 06 suspects in District Doda and one suspect in District Jammu of UT of Jammu and Kashmir in the case pertaining to Jamaat-e-Islami J&K, which even after its declaration as Unlawful Association in 2019, continues to raise funds in various forms purportedly for charitable purposes. These funds are however being diverted to terrorist organisations, such Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Toiba etc for promoting terrorist activities in Kashmir valley as well as the rest of India.
