Ashura Observed With Reverence Across Kashmir Srinagar , August 09 : Youm-e-Ashura was observed on Tuesday with reverence and religious fervour throughout Jammu & Kashmir to pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions for their supreme sacrifices. Every year, this day is observed on 10th of Muharram to commemorate the supreme sacrifice rendered by Imam Hussain and his 72 companions at Karbala to uphold the truth. Alam and Zuljanah processions were taken out in all districts across Kashmir.
Committed To Equitable Development Of All Regions of J&K: LG Srinagar , August 09 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha said on Tuesday that his government is committed to the inclusive and equitable development of all the regions of the Union Territory. The welfare of every section of the society, especially empowering the minorities & the underprivileged is the priority of the government, which is also reflected in the development policies, Sinha said. He made these remarks during his interaction with various deputations at Raj Bhawan here on Tuesday, an official spokesperson said.
BJP govt authoritarian, weaponising every agency: Mehbooba Srinagar , August 09 : PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said opposition parties in the country were not up against just the BJP but an authoritarian government that is weaponising state institutions to ensure an opposition-free India. The predicament Nitish Kumar & opposition parties find themselves in isnt just because they are facing BJP. Instead, they are facing the might of an authoritarian government thats weaponising every agency be it NIA, ED, CBI etc to ensure an opposition-free India, Mehbooba tweeted.
Cong takes out padyatra to demand statehood to JK Jammu , August 09 : The Jammu and Kashmir Congress on Tuesday took out Azadi Ki Gaurav Padyatra from Bhour camp to Satwari chowk here with its working president Raman Bhalla reiterating the demand for restoration of statehood to the erstwhile state. The Padyatra was organised as part of the 75th anniversary of Indias independence to recollect the sacrifices of martyrs and spread the message of communal harmony, Bhalla, who was leading the foot march, said. He said the Padyatra will conclude on August 15 and the party will hold 75-km-long marches in every district to celebrate the countrys 75th Independence Day.
JK govt failed to submit certificates for Rs 10,000 cr grants: CAG Jammu , August 09 : The Jammu and Kashmir government has failed to submit utilisation certificates for grants worth more than Rs 10,000 crores to the Centre till March 2021, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) said. Non-submission of the UCs means the authorities have not explained how funds were spent over the years in the Union territory, the apex auditing body said. The CAG on Monday released a fresh report on finances of Jammu and Kashmir for the year ending in March 2021.
38 persons have been arrested in 23 NDPS cases in the year 2022 in Sopore, 3 booked under PSA Waris Fayaz Sopore, Aug 09 ( KNS ) , August 09 : With an aim to eradicate drug menace in North Kashmir's Sopore town, Jammu and Kashmir Police so far have arrested thirty eight persons in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) cases. As per details available with the news agency - Kashmir News Service (KNS) , said that at least thirty eight persons have been arrested so far in the year 2022 in twenty three NDPS cases in the jurisdiction of Police station Sopore only. Twenty Public Safety Act's (PSA's) have been recommended out of which three persons have been booked under this draconian law.
National Conference slams BJP for making tall claims, false promises Jammu August 09 ( KNS ) , August 09 : Terming the tall promises of the BJP as hoax and big joke with the people, especially the poor, marginalised and the youth, Senior leaders Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President, Former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra and Former Minister Ram Paul, today questioned the two Crore Jobs promised during the 2014 elections, saying there has been very little on the ground. “It is not only the jobs; the BJP had shown day dreams about doubling the income of farmers and providing housing to all by 2022 but these turned out as Jumlas and nothing beyond that”, said Senior leaders while addressing a public meeting at Chinore in Jammu North Assembly Constituency. They said that the Nation has been aghast to see during the past eight years that in the name of ‘Ache Din’, the BJP has always endeavoured to mislead the people, as the scenario is quite different.
Govt establishes transparent recruitment system in J&K Srinagar , August 09 : Jammu and Kashmir Government has ensured to establish a new transparent recruitment system for the youth without any favouritism and discrimination. Unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir has remained a big concern for 70 years and in the absence of a private sector, the people used to do anything to get a prestigious government job as it was considered a guarantee for a secure future. For the first time in history of Jammu and Kashmir, recruitments have been done on merit basis, in transparent manner which is a living example of how corruption-free, transparent and just system contributes to the progress of the marginalized class and wherever wrongdoings were alleged, investigation was launched by credible and top law enforcement agencies.
