Cast your vote in huge numbers, Omar appeals

SRINAGAR , August 24 : Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that to protect J&Ks identity it is imperative for people of J&K to register as voters and vote in large numbers. The underlying principles guiding the partys future course of action will be in line with JKNCs basic stand and policies, Omar said while addressing a provincial committee meeting here at the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha in Srinagar. The participants present in the meeting expressed dismay over the recent statements, audio jingles and speeches made by some of the constituents of the PAGD (Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration) targeting the JKNC.

NC hints at going for assembly polls separately; cites unfair treatment by PAGD

Srinagar, August 24 : Saying that National Conference (NC) was meeted out unfair treatment in PAGD, party demanded course correction and hinted out going for assembly polls seperately. "The participants of the Provincial Committee denounced the unfair treatment meted out to JKNC in PAGD. The participants demanded immediate course correction from PAGD constituents,."

PAGD is for defence of rights of people; will decide about election after announcement: Tarigami

Srinagar, August 24 : CPI(M) leader and PAGD Spokesman Mohammad Yousuf Taraigami on Wednesday said that PAGD is together in defence of the rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir. As the National Conference party hinted of going solo in upcoming assembly election by saying that NC was meted out unfair treatment in PAGD, party demanded course correction and hinted out going for assembly polls separately. STaraigami said that PAGD is together in defence of the rights of people in Jammu and Kashmir.

Two Infiltration Bids Foiled by Army in Naushera Sector: Army

Jammu, August 24 : The army on Wednesday said that in last 48 hours, two major infiltration bids have been eliminated by alert troops deployed along the Line of Control in Naushera Sector of Rajouri district. "On 21 August 2022, in the morning hours, alert soldiers deployed in Jhangar sector of Naushera spotted movement of two to three terrorists on own side of Line of Control," the army in a statement said, adding that one terrorist came close to the Indian post and tried cutting the fence, when he was challenged by alert sentries. The terrorist tried to flee, however, was brought down by effective fire, incapacitating him.

AAP's base, popularity growing in J&K: Imran Hussain

Srinagar, Aug 24: AamAadmi Party (AAP) received yet another shot in arm after many new faces from Jammu and Kashmir joined the party during an event organised at Delhi. A statement from the party said that the new faces were welcomed in the party by Kashmir Election Incharge and Delhi's Cabinet Minister, Imran Hussain. Those who joined the party included Amir Rashid Wani, activist and founder of government recognised organization MoojKasheer Welfare Trust; Hilal Bashir, computer science engineer from Kashmir University and currently C/O of Veerian Classes; ShahidNazeerWani,Managing Director MoojKasheer welfare trust; Suhail Ahmad Allayee, founder of Ellahis Cafe.

Captured militant confesses on camera Pakistan army's role in militancy in J&K

Srinagar , August 24 : A terrorist captured by the Indian security forces at the Line of Control near the Jammu region has brought in focus the role of a serving Pakistani Army colonel in sponsoring terror attacks within the Indian territory. The captured terrorist, Tabarak Hussain, resident of Sabzkot village, district Kotli of Pakistan occupied Kashmir, is presently undergoing treatment at an Army medical facility. Hussain was in an extremely critical condition before Army doctors saved his life.

Kishtwar district to be power hub of North India with completion of 6000 MWs of Hydroelectric Projects

Srinagar , August 24 : Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district will become North India’s major power hub generating nearly 6,000 MWs of power after the completion of the ongoing power projects. The surplus power from Kishtwar will not only be utilised for other parts of the UT, but will also be sold to other States. Pertinent to mention that 1000 MW Pakal Dul Project, 624 MW Kiru Project, 540 MW Kwar Project and 930 MW Kirthai Project are all located in close vicinity of each other, along with 850 MW Ratle Project which has been revived as a Joint venture between the Centre and the UT.

Searches conducted at 4 locations in Srinagar in connection with Babar Qadri's killing: Police

Srinagar , August 24 : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday conducted searches at four locations in the houses and offices of three lawyers in Srinagar in connection with the killing of advocate Babar Qadri. A police spokesman said, Srinagar Police today conducted simultaneous searches at four locations, two located in Barzulla area, one in Brein Nishat and one in Maisuma in the houses and offices of three lawyers in connection with killing of Advocate Babar Qadri. The spokesman said that the houses of lawyers Mian Abdul Qayoom, Muzaffar Ahmad and Manzoor Ahmed Dar were searched in furtherance of the investigation of the murder case.
