Highway Chaos: Traffic Police Cracks Down On ViolatorsSrinagar , September 29 : A day after a senior police officer was removed following an outcry over halting of fruit-laden trucks from Kashmir valley to the outside markets; the traffic police on Thursday cracked a whip and blacklisted several vehicles to ensure a smooth flow of traffic on the strategic Srinagar-Jammu highway. SP Ramban Mohita Sharma, who was recently assigned additional charge of Traffic, National Highway told Kashmir Observer on Thursday that the blacklisted vehicles were violating traffic rules that had caused heavy jamming in the sensitive area along the National Highway. This drive was launched yesterday.
BJP throttling democracy by not conducting polls: JK Cong Srinagar , September 29 : Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Thursday accused the BJP of throttling democracy by not conducting the assembly elections in the union territory, saying it was a ploy of the ruling party at the Centre. Ex-J&K Panthers Party chief joins BJP New Delhi , September 29 : Balwant Singh Mankotia, a former president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, joined the BJP here Thursday. He joined party in the presence of Union ministers Jitendra Singh and Rajeev Chandrasekhar. and BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh.
NIA opposes Aasiya Andrabis plea on attachment of in-laws house New Delhi , September 29 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has opposed in the Delhi High Court the plea of Kashmiri woman separatist leader Aasiya Andrabi, who challenged the attachment of her mother-in-law's house. The NIA said the house was utilised for terror activities and even for celebrating Pakistan Day. The agency, in its reply, claimed that the attached house was used as the office of proscribed terrorist organisation Dukhtaran-E-Millat (DEM) by Aasiya Andrabi, and anti-India speeches were made and pro-Pakistani slogans were chanted at the meetings held there.
Arrested AGUH militant in Srinagar: Police Srinagar , September 29 : Jammu and kashmir police on Thursday said that it has arrested a categorised militant of AGUH outfit along with arms and ammunition in Central Kashmir's Srinagar city. The police identified the arrested militant as Junaid Ahmad Parray of Nawakadal and said one pistol, magazine and live rounds were also recovered from him. "One Categorised terrorist of AGH terror outfit namely Junaid Ahmad Parray of Nawakadal arrested by a joint team of Srinagar Police and 24 RR from Palpora, Srinagar," said city Police in tweet.
Azad holds key party leaders meet in Srinagar Srinagar , September 29 : Days after launching the Democratic Azad Party (DAP) in Jammu, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad on Thursday held a meeting with selected party leaders from all 10 districts of Kashmir region. The meeting, conducted today was attended by top DAP leaders including former ministers, legislators & DDC members. Mr Azad exhorted the party leaders to amplify their efforts to reach out to wider sections of society across the Kashmir valley.
Two persons injured in Twin blasts in Udhampur Jammu , September 29 : Two separate blasts have been reported in the Udhampur district of Jammu region, officials said here on Thursday. An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS), that two persons were injured when a mysterious blast took place in a parked bus in Udhampur district on Wednesday night. He said that another blast took place in a parked bus at the old bus stand in Udhampur early Thursday morning at 6 a.m. "No injuries have been reported in the incident so far," the official said.
