Militants Face Action Under UAPA, 10 Declared As Terrorists

Srinagar , October 04 : The Government of India on Tuesday declared 10 militants presently staying in Pakistan as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act -1967. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs today notified 10 militants of different groups operating in Jammu & Kashmir as terrorists under the UAPA. These militants faced action from the Centre on the day when Union Home Minister Amit Shah was in Kashmir.

HM Promises Quota Benefits To Gujjars, Bakerwals; Paharis

Rajouri , October 04 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday announced that the Gujjar, Bakerwal and Pahari communities in Jammu and Kashmir will get reservation benefits in accordance with the recommendations of the Justice Sharma Commission which examined the issue of quota. He said this while addressing a rally organised in this town, situated at the foothills of the Pir Panjal mountain range along the Indo-Pak border. Shah also said there will be no decline in ST quota of Gujjars and Bakerwals and Paharis and everyone will get their share.

PDP, NC leaders promise to join BJP

Jammu , October 04 : Two prominent leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the National Conference have expressed their desire to join the BJP on condition that the central government grants Schedule Tribe status to their Pahari community. PDP district president Rajouri Tazeem Dar and senior NC leader Shafqat Mir gave the assurance to Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a meeting here on Monday night, sources said. The two leaders were part of a Pahari community delegation which called on the home minister shortly after his arrival on a three-day tour of Jammu and Kashmir.

Restore statehood before assembly polls: Sikh association

Srinagar , October 04 : A Sikh organisation on Tuesday described the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Jammu and Kashmir as an initiation of the electoral process in the Union territory and demanded the restoration of its statehood before the conduct of the assembly elections. In a statement, All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said assembly elections can wait in J&K. The restoration of statehood should be done at the earliest.

Shah pays obeisance at Vaishno Devi shrine

Jammu , October 04 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday visited the famous Mata Vaishno Devi shrine atop Trikuta hills in Jammu and Kashmirs Reasi district on Maha Navami festival and offered his prayers. Accompanied by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Union Minister Jitendra Singh, the Home Minister arrived at Sanji Chhat by helicopter to pay his obeisance at the shrine on the concluding day of the nine-day Navratra celebrations, officials said. Before visiting the shrine, Shah in a tweet greeted the people of the country on Maha Navami festival.

Apni party delegation led by Altaf Bukhari meets Home Minister, seeks restoration of Statehood, raises issues of fruit growers

Srinagar , October 04 : Apni Party delegation led by its supremo Altaf Bukhari submitted memorandum to Home Minister Amit Shah during a meeting here in Rajbhawan. The memorandum seeks restoration of Statehood and holding of Elections at the earliest, request to address growing uncertainty and ensure a transparent and fast-track mechanism whereby the youth will not suffer and at the same time the departments will get adequate human resources as the government necessarily requires filling up of these posts. The memorandum also reads that youth languishing in custody be released without any further delay.

J&K investment of Rs 56Kcr in last 3 yrs in comparison to Rs 15Kcr for previous 72 yrs: Shah

Rajouri , October 04 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah Tuesday said in the last three years only an investment of Rs 56,000 crore has been ensured for Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a public gathering here on Tuesday, the Home Minister said, “In the first 72 years of Independence, industrial investment of Rs. 15,000 crore came into Jammu and Kashmir, whereas due to the announcement of an Industrial Policy by Prime Minister Modi, in just 3 years from 2019 till now an investment of Rs. 56,000 crore has been ensured and this will provide employment to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.”
