Congress(I)-NCF Accord 1986

However, following the death of Mrs. Indira Gandhi on 31 October 1984, Dr. Farooq Abdullah diluted his anti-Centre and anti-Congress(I) utterances and moved towards a reconciliation with the Congress(I) and the new Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. farooq abdullahThis change in the attitude of Dr. Farooq Abdullah led to an accord between Congress(I) and the National Conference in November 1986 and a coalition Government under Dr. Farooq Abdullah was reinstalled on 7 November 1986. It was stated that the main plank of the accord was fighting subversive, fundamentalist and pro-Pakistan forces and to bring about an all round economic development in the State.
