Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and People's Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti Wednesday said that they have to live in their own country, but the government will have to reinstate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. 'We do not say that we will go with another country, just give us our right and we will stay with our own country forever,' said Mehbooba while addressing party workers on the occasion of 22nd foundation day of PDP at party headquarters in Srinagar. She said that people in Kashmir are being intimidated if they raise voices and whatever they faced so far wasn't done by India and its constitution, but just by an individual party. She also said for the restoration of Article 370 they will struggle peacefully even if it takes months or years. 'We did not get it from other countries, it was given to us by our country, by Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel,' she said. She also said that Kashmir wanted to be a crown of India and our leaders brought army to fight the enemies like China and Pakistan but now they are fighting with the people of Kashmir which is unacceptable. 'If we look today, flags are being hoisted everywhere, but I do not understand why these flags are being hoisted today when they were hoisted by our youth in 1947,' She added. Our youth have fought with the enemies when there was no army here and today the same force is harassing our youth, he added. She said that her father always wanted the Kashmir issue to be resolved peacefully. 'He was not asking the people to vote for development, he was just saying that the Kashmir issue should be resolved for peace to prevail in the region.' The PDP chief also appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir to probe the killing of three 'youth' in the recent encounters.
